ELIZABETH'S POV
After what had happened at Mycroft's last night Sherlock still had yet to say a word to me. Every time we'd see each other he would quickly walk away, go into his room and slam the door. He and John rushed out of the flat to take a case not too long ago, which left me to go to my meeting with Mycroft early.
"Mycroft, Lady Smallwood, it's good to see you both."
"Miss. Watson, I must thank you for what you did last night. You did our country a great favour by figuring out the password to Irene Adler's phone."
"You're very welcome. I'm glad I was able to help." Giving her a small smile I turned to Mycroft. "So, about my assignment. I was thinking we could move it up."
"Move it up? You want to leave earlier?"
"Possibly."
"I know your reasoning behind this." Mycroft leaned against the desk. "Elizabeth, think about what you're doing. Are you sure you want to leave this soon?"
"It's going to be a big move and this is a large assignment. I should get started early."
"He's going t-"
"I don't care what Sherlock does. He can do whatever he wants, he's not stopping me from taking this assignment."
He let out a small sigh, glancing over at Lady Smallwood, then back to me. "The car will pick you up at 1 to take you to the airport."
"Alright. Thank you both very much. I'll keep you updated with what I find." I gave a small smile. "I'll see you in a few months."
"The best of luck. Please keep us informed of your findings and if you need us." Lady Smallwood nodded.
"Thank you."
I went to leave until Mycroft spoke up.
"Elizabeth. You realise how he'll react when he finds out you're gone."
"We haven't spoken. He won't say a word to me. I think he'll be just fine. Now goodbye, Myc." And with that I shut the door behind me, got a cab and went back to Baker Street.
Upon arriving I went right to my room and began packing. The car was coming at 1, so I only had a few hours.
"Lizzie." I turned around to see John standing in the doorway. "What's going on?"
"My assignment, remember? Things have been moved up so I leave soon."
"I thought you said we had a week."
"It's an important assignment, John. They wanted me to leave sooner so I can get started." I said as I shut my suitcase. That wasn't a complete lie, but it wasn't the full truth either.
"When will you be back..?"
"Couple of months. Somewhere between three and five."
I walked out of my room and went upstairs to 221B, John following behind me. "Where's Sherlock?"
"Still on the case. I ran home to see if you wanted to join.." His voice grew sadder as he finished the sentence. "I don't want you to leave."
"I'm sorry, Johnny, but this is my job." I grabbed my laptop and charger from the table. "I'll call everyday. And you can come visit, you know? I start off in Paris for a month, then Dubai, Munich. I do get off two weeks for a vacation, courtesy for Mycroft for my work last night. I was thinking of Scotland or Austria. Somewhere quiet."
