The train journey had taken hours. Eventually you reached Hogwarts. It took your breath away.

You didn't know what you expected from the school but what you didn't expect was a castle.

Walking to the great hall, you truly felt as if you were in a different world. This was the definition of magical.

You walked around looking at everything in wonder. Hiccup walked alongside you, the same wonder in you eyes. In front of you Jack and Rapunzel didn't seem so impressed whereas Merida gave the occasional gasp of amazement.

As you carried on walking, you stared at all the moving pictures and floating candles. It really was amazing. You watched the walls carefully until you suddenly found yourself on the floor. You felt the hard stone on your cheek. Groaning, you pushed yourself up. Rapunzel rushed to your side and helped you up. You looked to find Hiccup on the floor too. You and Rapunzel quickly offered your hands and pulled him up too.
Jack sniggered behind you while Merida punched his arm.

While you were both looking at everything in awe, the two of you had walked into each other. You both apologised quickly and everyone carried on walking.
Hiccup apologised once more and you blushed.

"Children, the sorting is starting" said a proud voice from the front. You strained to see past everyone's head and couldn't work out who was taking.

"It's professor McGonagall" Hiccup said to you. Of course he could see, he was nearly a head taller than you.

"That would be helpful if I actually knew who that was" you replied.

Hiccup chucked but Jack answered for him. "It's the head of the Gryffindor house"

Everyone prepared themselves for the sorting. Rapunzel smoothed her short hair and straightened her hair. Merida tugged her skirt down a bit and threw her hair behind her shoulders. The boys didn't do anything. In fact, you could've sworn that Jack messed his hair up even more. Hiccup bounced on his feet slightly and puffed his cheeks out.

You straightened your tie and swallowed. Then the doors opened.

--------------------------------------------------

All the first years entered the hall. The food smelled delicious in there and there were four long tables, one for each house. At the front of the hall was a line of teachers. They all smiled warmly.

The sorting then began.

--------------------------------------------------

Rapunzel was the first to be called. "Rapunzel Corona"
She sat down with a polite smile.

"Hmm" the hat pondered. "you are kind of heart like a Hufflepuffs, willing to do whatever to protect your friends like a Gryffindor. But when it comes down to it, you are resourceful, clever, you see the world in a more logical perspective. And that is why I place you in.... RAVENCLAW"

Rapunzel smiled as the hat made his decision. She had expected this after all. Rapunzel then took a seat at the Ravenclaw table.

--------------------------------------------------

"Merida Dunbroch"

Merida walked swiftly to the sorting hat, her arms swung at her sides. She sat and the sorting hat didn't even need to sit on her head entirely before announcing "GRYFFINDOR"

Merida walked to the Gryffindor table proudly, she supposed bravery was her main quality.

--------------------------------------------------

"Jack frost"

Jack didn't want to admit how nervous he was. He desperately wanted to be in a house other than Slytherin. His whole family had been Slytherin and quite frankly, he didn't want to turn out like his family.

Jack walked slowly to the hat and shut his eyes tightly when it was placed on his head.

Jack could hear the hat numbing something. He tried hard to block it out, he didn't want to hear what it had to say. But when the sorting hats voice boomed out the words that Jack had been dreading, there was no hiding from that.

"SLYTHERIN"

Jack's heart fell, for a fraction of a second he let his face fall too. He quickly composed himself and flashed a grin at the Slytherin table.

He felt no relief, his nerves didn't ease. If anything they got worse. As the hat was pulled off of his head, jack could've sworn that it had said something. He swears he heard the hat whisper "I'm sorry"

--------------------------------------------------

"Hiccup Haddock"

Hiccup let out a deep breath and held his head high. He walked with his back straight and arms out, just like his father taught him.

As hiccup approached the sorting hat he wasn't quite sure what he was expecting. He knew the hat spoke but when it had began talking in his head,he nearly fell out of his seat.
Unfortunately for him this little scare was not as subtle as he hoped. From the corner of his eye, he could see Y/N chuckling quietly.

"Interesting" the hat drawled.

Hiccup couldn't help but question "what is?"

"You my boy, are interesting" the hat replied. "At first glance I would have placed you in Hufflepuff easily. But now... I'm able to see you differently. Yes you may be accepting and loyal and kind but your inner qualities outshine these. Truthfully you are courageous, a leader, you aren't afraid of change. One might suggest Ravenclaw but you are far more impulsive than logical. And for that my boy, I must place you in... GRYFFINDOR"

The hat had finished rambling at last. Hiccups mouth went dry as he stood up. He realised that he had no idea which table was Gryffindor. After looking around quickly, he guessed that it was the one that cheered the loudest.
He walked over and they welcomed him with open arms.

--------------------------------------------------

"Y/N Windbriar!"

You wiped your hands in your legs as you quickly made your way to the hat. You tried to walk as normal as you could but for some reason you struggles to remember how to walk properly. You were nervous. There was no hiding that.

You were happy for your new friends when they were sorted. Each one of them had been welcomed to their tables warmly. Hiccup and Merida sat together, you smiled knowing that they both had a friend to rely on in their house. Meridas sorting was the quickest one yet but for some reason, the hat had taken a long time sorting Hiccup, you'd noticed that even the proffesors seemed quite curious as to what made the decision so difficult. Rapunzel had walked to the Ravenclaw table with grace. As soon as she sat down, it was clear that she belonged there. Her warm smile didn't falter once. Jack, however, sat towards the edge of the Slytherin table. You recalled his reaction to the hat announcing his house, for a split second he look devestated. But his usual cheeky look had returned so quickly that you were left unsure whether it had happened or not. Either way, you were slightly concerned for him.
You were snapped out of your thoughts by another voice in your head.

"Still thinking of your friends eh?" Said the hat. "You girl are quite something, I'll say that much"

You pursed your lips wondering what the hat meant.

"I think you'd particularly thrive in.... HUFFLEPUFF"
