Chapter 9

Elsa looked upset. She had a solemn look on her face, but then again she always looked solemn. Jack debated asking her if she was okay. He didn't want to intrude or cross any lines but he also wanted Elsa to know that she can talk to him.

Eventually jack made up his mind. He stood up with a sigh and walked over to her quickly, before he could change his mind.
Elsa saw him coming. She rubbed her eyes and plastered on a smirk. Jack sat next to her. She opened her mouth to say somethings but Jack cut her off.

"What's wrong?" He said with concern.

Elsa let her smile drop. She looked down. "my sister wrote to me" she admitted sadly.

"What's so bad about that?" Jack asked.

"Nothing. Nothing at all" Elsa stammered. "I just, I miss her. Every time I think of her I remember that night. It was so scary, Jack"

Jack looked softly. "I know, but your sister is safe. She's okay Elsa, you shouldn't worry" Jack said, giving her a sad smile.

Elsa smiled back before giving Jack a tight hug. He returned the hug. He felt bad for Elsa, but at least her sister actually cared about her. Jack couldn't remember the last time he'd spoken with his sister. He could still remember her half toothed smile and stringy brown hair, he missed her so much.

Hiccup headed down to breakfast, dressed scruffly. He'd woken up a little late so he'd practically scrambled his uniform together. Last night, he had been training with the quidditch team for ages. By the time he got back to the common room, everyone was asleep already.

Hiccup walked towards the Gryffindor table. He went to his usual seat with Merida and poured himself a glass of juice. He turned to say good morning to Merida but she wasn't next to him. Maybe she'd moved seats?

Hiccup leaned forward and looked down the table. Eventually he spotted the red head. She was laughing loudly as per usual, but she had Mulan and Pocahontas on either side of her. She hadn't saved Hiccup a seat.

Hiccup felt a pang of sadness as he realised that she'd chosen to sit with the two girls over him. Hiccup thought that maybe he should call out to her. Maybe she had just forgotten and would come over to him. In the end though, he chose not to. Instead, Hiccup stayed there.

He turned to see where Y/N was sitting so he could pass the notes to her. However, today she was sitting further away, with Tiana and Tadashi. The sadness in Hiccup grew as he sat and ate his breakfast alone.

Rapunzel made her way to the owlery slightly nervous. This morning, Flynn had popped up next to her claiming he needed her help with someone. He refused to give any details, only requesting that she meet him in the owlery. Rapunzel was hesitant at first, but her curiosity had gotten the better of her.

She slowly pushed the door open and peered in.

"Flynn?!" She whispered. "Flynn?!"

No one replied. Rapunzel sighed and looked around worriedly. She slowly crept in, pulling her robe tighter around her. She darted her head back and forth looking everywhere.

"Flynn are you here?" She said a bit louder.

Suddenly something touched rapunzels shoulder. She instantly flung her arm backwards and leapt away, only to find Flynn standing behind her holding his cheek.

"Woah there, that's one hell of a swing" he chuckled.

Rapunzel looked at him angrily. "why didn't you say something? You scared me?"

"My apologies" Flynn murmered. "I just didn't want to make too much noise."

"Well that didn't work out so well" Rapunzel crossed her arms. She tapped her foot impatiently. "So...?"

"Sooo what? Flynn repeated.

"Sooo what are we doing here" Rapunzel asked annoyed.

"Right of course yeah" Flynn spoke quickly. "I need your help"

"With what?" Rapunzel asked.

"It's a surprise"

"Seriously?"

"Yep" Flynn replied with a cock of his eyebrow. "I need you to go over there and open the door when I say, okay?"

"Okayy, but why?" Rapunzel questioned.

"Because I asked so nicely" that was the last thing Flynn said before he swiftly slid away, leaving Rapunzel talking to no one.

"Ugh, fine" she grumbled, making her way to the door.

Rapunzel waited for some time until she heard Flynn shout. She assumed that was his signal so she turned towards the door and pulled it open. Once it was open she turned around to shout back to Flynn, instead she was met with a flock of owl flying her way.

Rapunzel shrieked then dropped to the ground, covering her head. Above her, every owl in the room had been released and now they were flying out into the halls.

Once all the noise died down, she looked up carefully. "What in the world was that?" She shouted out.

Eventually Flynn came into view, he walked over to her and crouched down.

"That" he began "was what we Slytherins like to call, a prank"

"Well that" Rapunzel retorted. "Is what we Ravenclaws call breaking the rules"

Flynn just laughed at her. "come on, Rapunzel, live a little."

Rapunzel looked at him in shock. "I'm living plenty" she said horrified. Who was he to judge the way she lived?

"I'm just saying, that you never seem to relax" Flynn said. Rapunzel went to reply but he cut her off. "look, I've seen you trying to act all polite to everyone but you don't have to keep up this appearance. I only wanted to give you a chance to let loose a bit"

Rapunzel considered this. She thought over what had just happened and admitted to herself that she was a little excited. She enjoyed that feeling of curiosity and then satisfaction in seeing how it all played out. As much as she hated to admit it, it had been fun. Rapunzel let her shoulders drop a bit and gave Flynn a small smile.

"Uh, well, that's very kind of you" she said. "thank you, Flynn"

"Eugene" he said abruptly.

"I'm sorry?" Rapunzel asked confused.

"My name isn't actually Flynn, it's Eugene" he explained.

"Oh" Rapunzel went quiet for a moment before looking up again. "Thank you, Eugene" she said smiling.

He smiled right back at her, not a crooked cocky grin, but a genuine smile. Rapunzel was very glad that he asked her to help him today.
