"Hello? Earth to Merida"

Merida snapped out of her daydream and saw Mulan and Pocahontas standing in front of her

"What are you doing here?" Pocahontas asked, her arms. The girl had a straight face and was tall and muscular. Merida would be lying if she said she wasn't slightly intimidated by the girl.

"I'm waiting for Hiccup" Merida answered. Every day, before afternoon lessons, Merida would sit on a bench and wait for hiccup to return from quidditch practice. It was their routine.

"Seriously" Mulan said with an almost annoyed tone.

Merida gave a confused look and nodded.

The two girls just looked at each other and sighed. They swiftly sat on either side of Merida and looped their arms with her.

"Merida" Pocahontas started.

"You do realise that Hiccup is late" Mulan said.

"And he's only going to get later" Pocahontas finished.

Merida looked back and forth at the two girls.

"How do you mean?" She questioned.

The girls just turned their heads away and looked down, almost sorrowful. They bothered returned their stare to Merida.

"Well..." Mulan began. "He's going to find other friends through quidditch, trust me when you play quidditch then that's your life"

"It's true" Pocahontas sighed "Quidditch players only hang out with quidditch players, not people like us"

"Hiccups my friend,he wouldn't leave me and I can't leave him" Merida said quietly. Doubt crept into her tone.

"Hiccup will be fine" Mulan said. "Come with us for now Merida, otherwise you'll end up being late for class"

Merida debated this. Was there truth in the girls words? Would Hiccup get carried away with his quidditch and forget her? She pondered over these possibilities. She guessed that there was no harm in leaving him for one time, anyways now was her opportunity to see if Mulan and Pocahontas could be her friends too.

Better safe than sorry Merida thought.

She smiled at the girls and pulled them up. Mulan and Pocahontas shared knowing smiles before walking off with Merida. Their giggles could be heard all the way to Herbology.

Rapunzel took her seat next to Jack in defence against the dark arts. He greeted her with a small salute. Rapunzel smiled and pulled out her books. She made as little noise as possible in order to maintain her grace.

Jack didn't speak much for a change. He just swung on his chair, actually listening to the professor. Rapunzel tried to listen to the proffesor but she couldn't concentrate.

Rapunzel couldn't afford to let her mind wonder. She always had to put her concentration on the way people perceived her. It was important that they saw a well educated, respectable, graceful princess. There was little room for mistakes. Rapunzel always focused on how to appear good to her people. She had to be kind to them. But for some reason, being kind had not yet earned her any friends of a respectable blood status. In fact, everyone in Ravenclaw seemed to make it a point to ignore her. They wouldn't speak to her if absolutely necessary. Rapunzel didn't want to seem stuck up. She thought she'd succeeded in that from the way that everyone looked down at her.

Her train of thoughts was broken by jack.

"Hey uh Princess, why aren't you writing" he whispered urgently.

Rapunzel looked around and saw everyone was writing in their books. She turned to jack helplessly. He just sighed and turned his paper towards her so she could copy.

"Thank you" she whispered back.

"Whats up with you? A Ravenclaw copying off of a Slytherin? That's unheard of" he asked her.

"I'm just a bit distracted that's all" she sighed.

Jack leaned in closer "does this thing also distract you from talking to us?" He asked accusingly.

Rapunzel knew this confrontation was unavoidable. She'd made good friends, but they would know straight away when Rapunzel was upset and she didn't want to make them worry.

"Don't worry about" she told him.

Jack looked a bit startled "don't worry? You cutting us off so suddenly is worrying us"

When Rapunzel didn't reply, jack turned to her again. He spoke softer this time.

"Look, Rapunzel, we're your friends. And we're here for you. If somethings troubling you then we can help. So please, just come back to us" jack finished. He then snatched his paper back.

The two of them were silent for the rest of the lesson.

--------------------------------------------------

Jack was relieved when the bell went. That last part of the lesson was pretty awkward. He was however, quite upset that Rapunzel hadn't said anything. He thought that maybe he could've persuaded her to hang out with them again but she gave no indication that she would. So jack went ahead without her, at least he tried.

He was waking to the library to meet up with the rest when someone tapped his shoulder. He turned to find Rapunzel and his face broke out into a smile.

"I knew you'd come around Princess" he teased as they walked in together.

As soon as they entered, everyone was quick to notice Rapunzel. They bombarded her with 'hello's and 'we missed you's. Jack sat in his usual place by Y/N and smiled. Not to brag but he was the one who had brought this happiness along. Jack sighed contently as he watched his friends chat with Rapunzel.

However, what Jack didn't notice was that Merida was being awfully quiet. She was sitting with the group but still seemed like there was a lot of distance between them. Her blue eyes drooped downwards as Merida was still thinking about her encounter with Mulan and Pocahontas earlier.
