The first Quidditch match between Gryffindor and Slytherin was being held today. The whole school was buzzing with excitement and pupils flooded the grounds. Everyone sat there waiting for the match to begin. It was the biggest event of the year. However, it also meant the first match between Hiccup and Jack.

The two boys were very competitive, they'd spent the whole week arguing who was the better player. But today it seemed that the truth would be coming to light.

You walked through the crowds, towards the Gryffindor team. You scanned the crowd for Hiccups head, you thought it would be nice to wish him luck before the game. Eventually you managed to find him.

Hiccup stood with the rest of the team, all in their kits with their brooms in hand.

"Hey" you said, shuffling over to him.

"Oh, h-hi" he replied, twitching slightly.

"Hiccup" you said questioningly. "are you nervous"

He looked around slowly before admitting "yeah just a bit"

"Don't be" you laughed "It's just like flying a dragon"

Hiccup laughed with you for s short time. Once your laughter died down, the air grew tense again. You could feel his nervous he was but wasn't sure how to help him feel better. Soon after, the captain called out for everyone to get onto the pitch. Hiccup turned to follow the team but you quickly reached out and grabbed his hand.

"Good luck" you said warmly, squeezing his hand.

"Thanks" he replied with a smile.

On the other side of the pitch, Elsa was standing with Jack. The slytherins were all going over last minute plans. Jack listened intently. He was determined to show hiccup that he was a better player.

Once the time came, the team started pouring onto the field. Before Jack followed he turned back to Elsa.

"What no kiss for good luck?" He asked with a raise of his eyebrow.

Elsa's grin matched his. "you don't need luck Frost"

Jack began to protest but Elsa was already by his side. She leaned in and planted a kiss on his check, whispering "good luck" into his ear.

Jack quickly turned to get away, hoping that Elsa didn't notice the blush creeping onto his face.

You made your way to the seats were everyone was waiting for the game to begin. You could see Jack and Hiccup up in the air stating each other off. In the crowd, a group of slytherins and Gryffindors proceeded to shout at each other for quite some time.

You wrapped your scarf tighter around your neck and took your seat next to Eugene and Rapunzel. They leaned over to greet you briefly before turning their attention back onto the pitch.

You looked over the crowd and spotted a puff of red hair down below. Merida sat alongside Mulan and Pocahontas.

"Hey Merida!" You called out. "Merida hi!"

You called out a few more times but she kept her head turned away. Eventually you stopped defeated and settled in as the game began.

--------------------------------------------------

(Sorry but I'm not writing out the details of the match, but imagine it to be really intense and cold with everyone cheering)

"And Gryffindor have caught the snitch and won the game!"

--------------------------------------------------

"Good game Haddock"

"Thanks Jack, guess we know who the better player is now"

"You just got lucky" Jack replied bitterly but shock hiccups hand anyways

Hiccup watched as Jack stalked off with the rest of the sulking slytherins. He turned and went back to the Gryffindor tower. He wasn't sure how everyone was going to be celebrating but he was bound to find out.

As soon as he climbed into the common room, he heard an uproar of voices. Each one shouting and singing and cheering. Everyone hugged each other and lifted up the players like gods. Soon enough Hiccup, too, found himself in the air. He laughed along as everyone celebrated. Red banners were strung around the room and everyone's faces were flushed with colour. They all smiled like it was the best thing in the world.

Hiccup supposed at the time, that it was just that. The best thing in the world. Until he saw Merida.

She sat alone, the red hair should've easily blended in but she had an air of sadness around her. Hiccup set himself down and pushed through the crowd towards her.

"Hey" he said, but got no reply. So he tried again "How are things?" No reply. "where are Mulan and Pocahontas?" This earned a shrug of the shoulder. Hiccup sighed. He missed his friend. He missed Merida.

"Merida please" he began "we all miss you and no one knows what happend. I just want us to be friends again and I'm sorry for whatever I did to make you so closed off"

Merida took a deep breath and turned to hiccup, her eyes glassy. "I'm sorry" was all she said.

"It's not your fault don't worry" hiccup reassured "I just want you to know that we're always here for you if you need us"

Merida offered him a small smile. "yeah I know, thanks"

Hiccup smiled and looked around the room. "you know I think it's too warm for me here"

Merida looked at him questioningly

"I hear the astronomy towers open late at night if you wanna go some place quieter to celebrate"

Merida thought for a moment then nodded. With every nod, her smile grew more until the two of them were out of the room and running towards the tower. Both glad to have regained a friend.
