You were very very late. You were getting ready for class when you saw a note at the foot of your bed. It was from the house elves. They wanted to thank you in person for helping them so you stopped by before defence against the dark arts. When you went to the kitchens, you found hiccup there already holding a similar note. The two of you stayed there for a while and listened to all the elves ramble on about 'being grateful' and how they're 'in your debt'. You both smiled and tried to leave, but were constantly being held back. Eventually they finished and you both hastily left.

"Great" you said "we're half an hour late for class"

Hiccup walked quickly alongside you "I know, if helping people results in that each time then I'm not helping again" he joked

"Agreed" you laughed.

You both climbed the stairs and were about to turn a corner when you heard a voice grumbling on the other side. You flung your arm out to stop hiccup.

"Filch" you whispered dangerously. If he caught you two out of lessons then you'd have detention for a week.

Hiccup looked around quickly before finding a cupboard to his side. He grabbed your hand and pulled you in.

"Really, here?" You whispered annoyed. The cupboard was very small and packed, there was barely enough room for one person to stand in there.

Hiccup shut the door softly and turned to you. "well if you want to get caught by filch then be my guest" he half whispered half shouted back.

You sighed and shut your mouth, listening out for Filch. You turned your head towards Hiccup and found him leaning over you. You noticed how close you both were. The cupboard was extremely small so you were pushed up against the wall while hiccups head was on top of yours, he still held your hand. You two were so close that your head was nearly in the crook of his neck. You could feel a blush growing from your neck to your cheek. It was suddenly really warm in here.

"Um, hiccup" you swallowed.

"Yeah?" He said looking down.

You simply raised your eyebrows and looked away embarrassed. Then he noticed. His eyes went wide as he began apologising

"Y/N I'm sorry uh -" he began but your hand flew over his mouth. You could hear filch just outside the door. You held your breath as you waited for his voice to fade. Once it did, you dropped your hand from his face.

Hiccup smiled at you as you mumbled a quick sorry. He slowly turned the door handle and you both crept outside. He grabbed your hand and pulled you out. In the light you could see that hiccup was just as red as you.

The two of you sprinted the rest of the way to class. Eventually you reached, completely out of breath.

"I'm so sorry Professor" you blurted as you entered the class.

"It really wasn't our fault" hiccup said breathlessly.

The professor didn't say a thing. He just looked down at your hands, which were still intertwined. You both quickly dropped them and flushed even more. Everyone in the class was sniggering to each other.

The professor sighed and simply told you to sit down.

"Every year" he mumbled disappointingly.

You and hiccup looked at each other apologetically. You covered your cheeks with your hands, hoping to hide some of your blush. Well, suffice to say that it's only going to be slightly awkward later.

--------------------------------------------------

After class, you'd practically sprinted away from hiccup. That awkward situation was sure to haunt you. You went to the common room and decided that maybe you should just relax today. So you sat by the fire and pulled out a book.

It was one of your all time favourites; 'How to train your dragon'. All about a young misfit Viking that befriends a dragon. You smiled as you read the first words 'there were dragons, when I was a boy..."

Authors note: cut to me crying in my room

You read for quite a while until you eventually reached the end of the book. You tucked it under you arm and was about to go back to your dorm before you heard a group of people talking.

"He's a Slytherin just like the rest of them" someone whispered.

You slowly sat back down and listened in. You recognised one of the voices to be Tadashi.

"Can you imagine coming from a family like that? I heard that they don't go to school when they're younger, instead they're taught dark magic while growing up" a girl said

A boy carried on "that's why he's so good in class, cause he's learnt it all before" the boy looked as if he'd discovered something remarkable.

"Exactly" someone agreed, holding their hands out. "I've heard that the teachers are going to take him out of defence against the same arts lesson in case he uses any forbidden spells"

A spell of gasps followed this statement.

One girl who looked particularly appalled retorted "He wouldn't do anything in school though. Dumbledore wouldn't let him."

A few people around her nodded in agreement.

"Yeah! And have you seen his friends, all Muggleborns. It's cause all the ones brought up in the wizarding work already know what he's like"

The hairs on the back of your neck stood up. You were asked if you were a Muggle born on the first day. All you and your friends were Muggleborns or half-bloods except...

"You know, he won't even admit that he's a Black. He's tried changing his name, even going as far as to change his hair white! But we all know that he won't be able to help himself. His family is one long line of evil, he's just like them"

Your heart hammered. White hair. You didn't want to listen to any more.

"I know right, he'll leave before long and good riddance. If he stays I'm worried he'll hurt someone here. He's so stupid honestly, there's no hope for people like him. What did he change his name to again?"

He wouldn't he was your friend. This didn't sound like him at all. And then, someone answered saying the name you dreaded hearing.

"Frost. Jack frost."
