Chapter 11

Christmas had passed and the new year had come. Along with the new year, returned your friends. You all sat together in the library, excitedly discussing your holidays.

Rapunzel had gone home to her family where she'd been gifted a new paint set. Hiccup on the other hand, was given a helmet from his father. He wasn't entirely sure what to do with it but appreciated it nonetheless.

You were all listening in on a story Rapunzel was saying when she suddenly stopped and gasped.

"Oh. My. God" she said, each word more dramatic than the last. "I just had an amazing idea!" She exclaimed.

"Do tell" Jack encouraged.

Everyone leaned in close to listen to her. "we should have a sleepover!"

"A sleepover?" You questioned, drawing back.

"You know, when you sleep over somewhere else" hiccup answered sarcastically.

"Whatever" you gave a mocking smile while hiccup just chuckled.

Rapunzel continued absentmindedly. "well I know a pretty hidden room in the castle that I think will be perfect for us to stay in" she said. "also it'll be a great chance for us to catch up"

Everyone was quick to agree except for Merida.

"I'd rather not break the rules" she stated. "I never thought you'd be so willing to do so"

Rapunzels face dropped. "Oh well um" she started "I guess someones just showed me how to live a little"

Rapunzel and Eugene shared a brief smile.

"Wait" hiccup cut in "you're not coming Merida?"

"No" she said bluntly, avoiding his eyes. "I have to go" she announced and swiftly left the room.

Hiccup watched her go as hurt flashed across his face. The others awkwardly sat there, sighing. No one really knew how to address Meridas recent behaviour, no one was brave enough to.

You were so excited for the night. All day you couldn't stop thinking about it and when the time came to go meet up, you were practically bouncing.

It had taken a while to find the room Rapunzel had spoken about. You wandered around until eventually you came across an unfamiliar door. The placing seemed a bit off, you'd never noticed this door before. Hesitantly, you put a hand on the door handle. You pushed the door open and saw a flash of light. As the light faded you found yourself staring into a small room.

It and lamps and candles everywhere, with blankets already placed on the floor. Your friends were sitting in a circle and greeted you enthusiastically. You shut the door with a click and walked over to the circle, seating yourself between hiccup and Jack.

"I thought you'd gotten lost" hiccup teased.

You shot him a glare. "I don't get lost. I'm a Hufflepuff, we're particularly good finders" you said with a confident smile.

Hiccup smiled back. "How could I forget"

"Everyone here?" You said, shifting to face the entire group.

"Yep" jack said. "except Merida"

The group fell silent as they mulled over her absence. Rapunzel sighed.

"Well she did say she couldn't come, she was probably just busy"

"Yeah" hiccup sighed. "probably just busy" he said with more confidence, as if he was trying to reassure himself. He broke out into a smile. "so, let's get this night started"
