Who knew a few days would pass by so quickly? Because here I am getting ready to go to Mineta's wedding. Though I'm kind of surprised he was getting married I was a tad bit proud of him too. However, even though there's a wedding today and I'll be busy with that for the day, today was also the marker that it's been exactly four months since Deku died. Kirishima said it himself that everyone was curious as to why he planned the wedding to be for today, but we all knew that we'd have to ask him there. I was finishing up on tying my tie when I heard a knock on my door and heard the sound of it unlocking and opening.
" Bakugou! You about ready?!"
" Aren't you here early?"
" No, just your sense of time is terrible today. Well anyway, we better get going if we want to get there on time."
" Right."
I followed Kirishima as he led me out of my apartment and to his car. He asked if I wanted to drive but I wasn't in the mood, so he sat in the drivers seat while I sat slumped in the front passenger seat. I watched the scenery move past me through the window as the gentle hum of the car sounded in the silence, it was kind of nice really. But one can only remain in silence for so long, so I decided to ask Kirishima something.
" This is kind of out of the blue but why did you decide to do what you do?"
" What do you mean?"
" You know, talk with me and visit me? You're basically looking over me."
" Well we're friends aren't we? That's just what friends do, we look out for each other no matter what."
Somehow those words cut deep into me as their meaning had sunk into me so much it hurt. His words were a knife piercing through my heart. If what he said is true then what about me and that damn nerd? What were we to each other? I dismissed these thoughts and continued to look out the window as I listened to Kirishima.
" Alright then, since I'm looking after you I'm going to set down a few rules while we're at the wedding." He chuckled but when he realized he had no response he continued, " First thing's first, if possible try not to talk or think about Midoriya. Understood?"
" What? Do I not have the right to do what I please?" I huffed an answer in irritation, if anything I hated the most it was people telling me what to do or what not to do.
" Just for the sake of everyone there, everyone's pretty much moved on except for you."
" Maybe I don't want Deku to be forgotten like All Might." These were my final words I spoke in the car before keeping to myself, and I wasn't sorry this time.
" Anyway, secondly try to socialize with everyone. You don't keep in touch with them and they all want to know how you've been..."
The rest of the car ride was a blur and when we arrived to the location the wedding was being held at, it was like everything around me was frozen in time. Before I realized it I was in a seat waiting to watch the bride walk down the aisle, and when I saw her, well, when everyone saw her we were all surprised. It was Asui. She was getting married to the tiny perverted groom known as Mineta, but I couldn't help but wear a small smile for a few seconds. The couple exchanged their vows, Mineta had to stand on a footrest just to be tall enough to kiss her. The whole wedding seemed to remind me of a story my mother would read me when I was little, The Frog Prince, only the roles were switched.
During the meal I sat next to Kirishima and ended up having Icy-Hot sitting right next to me on the left. Next after him was Momo, then Jiro, Denki, Mina, and Sero. There were two tables of eight and an extra with two others, combine those two tables with the one I'm sitting at it was everyone from our years at UA. There were of course family members from the two married and a few other families, along with them there were a handful of pro heroes and the teachers from UA as well. It was one heck of a wedding, but they sure enough pulled it off. Eventually Icy-Hot stood up and gently hit his class with a spoon to get everyone's attention.
" If I may, I'd like to say a few words and afterward a toast." Everyone got quiet, well maybe except for someone's baby, and he continued, " On the twentieth of January, we had lost a dear friend of ours. Everyone was deeply affected by this and seeing as it now has been four months since the majority of those who gathered here today have moved on. Not only is today a remembrance of what happened four months ago, but it is also a day of celebration of not only the wedding of Mineta and Asui, but a day of celebration for Bakugou. If you would, could you rise for all to see you?"
I grunted quietly and stood up, looking from face to face. Surely enough I found my parents at a table together but I was surprised to see Deku's mother here with them. I decided to dismiss it for now and listened to what Todoroki had to say next.
" Today we celebrate his birthday and wish him only the best for him to embark in the seventeenth chapter of his life. And now, a toast! To the happiness of life and a brighter future!"
" To the happiness of life and a brighter future!" Everyone cheered, except for me.
What was there to be happy about? What bright future did any of them see? Don't they all know that there's only one possible end for all of us? Death. Death is an unchangeable fact to avoid, and no quirk can prevent it. The lively chatter and music started playing again while I remained silent in my seat. Everything around me seemed to be in slow motion again, but I didn't mind that. What I did mind though was the fact that I swore that I heard that damn nerd's voice echoing in the distance. His voice kept getting more and more clearer until I could make out what he was saying.
" It's not your fault, Kacchan."
I grit my teeth and hissed quietly to myself so no one around me could hear, " Like Hell it's not my fault, shitty Deku."
I swear I was seeing things because the next thing that happened was me seeing Deku, or at least his hand resting on mine and the other on my shoulder. I stood up in a hurry and left for Kirishima's car to cool off. I could hear everyone calling out to me but I didn't slow down nor did I look back to any of them. Coming here was a mistake, and I knew that.
AN: Here's chapter three, and real early too. Though I'm tired so I'm gonna sleep after I upload this. I was debating on changing the couple for the wedding but I decided nah, though I was tempted to make it so that Mineta and Jiro were getting married but I think Jiro would be better off with Denki personally. So I hope this made since since I'm tired and that you enjoyed it and I'll see you in the next chapter!!!
