New York City is known for many things. From lady liberty, to the bustling streets of Time Square, the Big Apple is one of many touristy sites around the world. As you may have known, it is also my home.

Many people look to the big buildings, architecture and life style. I look for the stars. Why many people fail to enjoy night skies in the middle of urban living, is because they simply aren't looking in the right place. All you need is a fairly tall building that can give you a full view of New York City's outline. You the find the stars within the twinkling buildings and skyscrapers.

"How does it feel to be Spider-Man?"

Miles looked perplexed by the sudden question. After a bit of thinking, the answer seemed clear to him. "Well, it definitely has its ups and downs."

"Of course, it does."

"But I don't think I regret it." He looked back at me with the reflection of the city's lights twinkling in his brown eyes. "I'm not as good as the old Spider-Man, but having these abilities, and using them for good, it just feels so... right."

Though Peter never said it exactly so, I knew he carried that same burden. His large heart wished to protect people, and so did Miles'. It made me wonder how these radioactive spiders could make such noble choices of biting these good apples?

"So, you said you saw Peter," I seized the silence to bring up the topic. "That day."

Miles nodded, looking rather troubled by the thought.

"Tell me... what was he like before he died?"

It was futile asking that question but it's been plaguing my mind. I wanted to know what his last thoughts were. Did he fight until the very end? Did the thought of Death ever cross his mind? Was he scared of Her? Would he even-

"Thinking back, he probably knew his time was up before I did," stated Miles, his eyes clouded with the multitude of emotions from that day. "But he insisted he'd catch up. He made me believe he was really gonna jump back up and save the day. But he didn't..."

The silence swallowed us whole. I couldn't find the words to express the weight of my heart. I really miss him.

So Miles spoke. "I've been working hard, watching videos to try and widen my skill set, but there's so much I don't know yet," he gazed down at the silver gadgets around his wrists. "I'm still trying to find my own voice in all of this."

I gave Miles a quick pat on the shoulder and flashed him with a kind smile.

"Peter didn't learn this stuff overnight, you know."

I picked myself up and dust myself off. My eyes darted from the city outline and back to Miles. My classmate just stared up at me, no one ever really looked at me that way. But then again, I hardly know much about Miles.

"He worked damn hard for what he got and so will you. This isn't really my thing but," I contemplated my next word before finally conceding "I can do my best and let you in on everything I learned from Peter."

The Afro-Latino kid stumbled to his feet, quickly recalibrating himself to face me. His lips stretched  into an overwhelming smile. "Does that mean you'll help me? Alright!" He hooted with his arms above his head.

I extended my hand out for him to take.

"In the meantime, drop me home?"

He eyed my hand with slight hesitation before seizing it. He pulled down his mask over his face and said, "Let's go."

Side-by-side, we stood with our feet leaning over the ledge. We spontaneously leaned forward until gravity's pull hurled us towards the ground.

Above the gushing wind in my ear, I heard Miles yell out, "Hey, how do you know Spider-Man anyway?"

Author's Note: Hey guys, this was a bit rushed because I missed my deadline by like 2 days! I am very disappointed in myself for not keeping up with my own work. I'll come back and edit this soon this week, hopefully before the next chapter! Thank you for reading!
