"Vanessa!"No. That voice. It couldn't be.
"No, get away from here." Was what I'd say if it wasn't for the hand muffling the lower half of my face.
The vigilante stood defiantly a couple feet away from us. The mask did little to conceal the blood boiling inside.
Electro wasn't as surprised as I was by this sudden appearance. "Finally the bug came out to play! Hold that thought Spidey while I finish off your friend."
Logically speaking, I had already experienced the shock therefore I can endure it once more. I tried to reason with myself, but Miles still caught the terror hidden in my eyes.
A string of web wizzed through the air, hitting it's mark square on the chest. Electro was completely oblivious to what he'd just experienced until his chin collided with a fist and his body flung across the room.
Spider-Man seized this window of opportunity to race to my aid. He didn't bother with questions, whether because he'd known what happened or didn't want to hear the horrors of it.
One arm around my waist and my own arm flung over his shoulders, my hero tried to hurry us to safety. With all my strength I pushed forward but
my weight unavoidably slowed us down. Thus giving Electro time to recover. Being fixated on the rescue Miles couldn't respond to his sense fast enough to avoid a lightning bolt to the back.We collapsed to the floor. Spider-Man was breathing, but knocked out cold.
"Finally!" Electro bellowed, his blood thirst aura enveloping the air around us. "Like killing two birds with a stone."
We were bested, overpowered by the antihero. This was all my fault. If I hadn't played hero we wouldn't have been in this mess. I dragged Miles into this. I'm the cause of our deaths. His death.
Chest puffed and head held high, Electro was soaking in his victory. In the pathetic state I was, I dared not look at him. Instead I painfully watched his feet near me. He stooped down to get one good look at my face.
Bingo.
I spewed out a thick ball of webbing hitting him point blank in the face. He hissed in disgust of my saliva all over his face but in his blinded state he didn't think to defend himself against me. I tackled him to the floor and kept salivating more webs to bind him in. I covered his body with everything I could and thoroughly securing his restraints.
"Vanessa..."
I froze at the mention of my name. While I was bonding up the villain Miles had regained consciousness. I don't know for how long but I was sure he'd already connected the dots.
"Come on," I spoke before he could. "We need to get out of here."
Author's note: Haven't posted in a while so today felt like a good day to do so. This chapter was kind of rushed (that and I'm terrible at writing fight scenes.) Please let me know if you find any mistakes. Hope everyone is having a lovely day. Remember, you're the sunflower 🌻
