"No. Freakin'. Way."

From the numerous experiences I've had being Spider-Man's friend, it didn't take me long to quickly recognize the human lightning bolt.

I gripped my phone hard and tapped the emergency call button. It didn't go through so I tried again only to my stupidity. Help wouldn't come. He's gone, remember?

"Just what the doctor ordered," said Electro with a wicked laugh that sent goosebumps up my arms. The man took a step towards me. Followed by another one, and another.

My coach always praised me for awesome reaction speed, but in this situation my body wouldn't move. I could not move. It felt as though the electric current radiating from this man was absorbing all my energy to fight. I stood there like an idiot, gracefully falling into the enemy's hands.

My finger was still pressing that emergency call button. The screen to my phone lit up with Peter's face but no response. He would be so ashamed of me.

"Watch out!"

In the blink of an eye, Electro was swept off his feet and flung into the air. The flighty villain could not seize control of the situation until his whole body struck the left wall of the cab. My pounding head tries to make sense of the sudden turn of events.

"Um... are you okay, Miss?" A gloved hand dropped into view, an offering hand I supposed. "I hope he didn't hurt you."

My eyes darted up, making contact with a set of familiar bug eyes. "Who are you?"

My hostility caught the rescuer off guard, "Let me help you."

I refrained from biting as he took me by the hand and pulled me up. This close there was no mistaking the Spandex cloth originally used in Peter's costume.

"What did you do to his costume?" I pinched the fabric on his shoulder and pulled. This did not please the new hero who jumped out of my grasp.

"H-hey, I need to get you out of here."

"If you think I'm going anywhere with you-!"

Before I could voice my argument, a lightning bolt struck Spider-Man. Electro's attack sent the helper flying into the row of seats stationed behind us. Jolts of electricity danced around his small body and I could only fear it happening to me. My instinct was to rush after him, to offer help in any way I could. But I knew better.

Whoever this kid-arachnid was, he knew what he was throwing himself into the moment he put on the mask. This was now his responsibility, and mine was to make it home in time for dinner.

"Fine, I'll let you two have your dance," I declared to the spider imposter. Though my real concern was leaving this newbie Spider-Man to fight Electro on his own. "Can you handle him?"

"Uh, sure," his voice trembled with fright but I could not let that faze us. "Get to safety, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man has got this under con-!"

"Duck!" I grabbed him by the head and pushed us both down to the ground, just in time for the  next bolt of energy to strike the seats behind us. During that drop, I found my phone lying on the floor. Not thinking much of it I seized the electronic and made off with it.

I jumped to my feet and dashed for the exit. With the vigilante's eyes on me, I knew I had little to worry except finding a way off this train. The lights were still out so getting around was harder than expected. Eventually I located other passengers who had already established communication with the police.
