Chapter 15.

"What do you mean I can't come?"

"It means what it means," he stated in an authoritarian manner that wasn't fooling anyone.

I picked myself up off the ground, putting myself at eye level with the boy dressed in spandex. "Miles, you can't expect me to sit around and do nothing while that creep has my parents! I have to come!"

Miles rolled his eyes at me. "What if you get hurt?"

"I have you, don't I?"

Even in the dark Miles' blush flashed brightly. "I... um, well-"

Miles was cut short by my phone's dinging with an incoming text message from an unknown number.

"What's that?" Miles pointed at the gibberish appearing on my screen.

I quickly skimmed through the incomprehensible text. "It's an address."

"It's a trap," Miles corrected whilst beginning a pace around my kitchen. He stopped at the wall and flipped the light switch on, which was much to my discomfort. "They're luring us into a trap. I think we need a plan."

"Easy." I pushed past him and headed for the door. "We go there, beat some electric booty, and get my parents back." I reached my hand for the handle but Miles seized my wrist and forced me back a couple steps

He slipped himself between me and the door. "V, we need to seriously think about this."

"Think about what?"

Even he was confused as to where we should start. "Um... I mean, why would they kidnap your parents?"

"We can ask then exactly why as we bash their heads in," I exclaimed before throwing myself at Miles. Despite my force I couldn't get the boy to budge. "Miles, get out of my way!"

"No," he yelled back, seizing me by both wrists. "V, you're not going on this mission. Please, let me handle this."

As infuriated as I was in the moment I let myself give in. Without another word, I turned on my heels and hurried up the staircase.

Before entering my room, I spoke. "Please... bring them back."

With a nod of his head, I turned and entered my room. I shut the door behind me.

"..."

"Where are they?"

"You sure are a clever girl, Vanessa," I winced at the strong light emitting from the electric man seated on my bed.
