"No, no, no," the disappointment in his voice was as clear as the webs spurting out from the gadget. "Stop it! Make it stop"

Flailing my arms around didn't seem to help the situation, but that didn't make me stop. It wasn't until my mentor seized my wrists and disarmed the gadgets. The accessories fell to the ground with a loud clank.

A loud sigh left my lips as I shot my head back. My arms drooped by my sides. "Peter! What's the point? I'm never gonna get this and I really doubt I'll ever need them anyway!"

Having heard the same excuses about a hundred times, Peter scooped the wristbands off the ground and started in direction for his desk. He beckoned me to follow. And so I did.

The lab desk was always messy with viles of chemicals he adored playing with. We each pulled up a chair and he quickly went to work. I watched New York's superhero tinkering.

"Vanessa-"

"V," I quickly interjected.

However, Peter was not gonna have it this time. "Vanessa," he repeated. "There will be a day, where my secret identity won't be so much of a secret."

"And why would that happen?"

"Because villains only invite you to tea time to rip your mask off."

"What poor manners." We both laughed.

Peter's laugh slowly faded as he gained a straight face, but not too serious to scare me away. "Your safety is very crucial to me, so I want you to keep practicing so that when the day comes — and may it never come — if I should not be there to protect you," Peter paused as he slipped the devices back on my wrists. Though reluctant I proceeded to activate them.

"You'll know how to," he finished his latest thought.
