Was everything my fault?

Did he leave because of me?

Was I the cause of everything?

"Adrien, wake up!"

Adrien rolled out of bed, his head hurting. He'd never had to wake up so early, why now?

"What is it?" He looked up at his mother, half-awake.

"I'm sorry I didn't mention this before, but, I can't keep home schooling you," Emilie sighed and helped him up. "I got a new job, so that would be very hard."

"What about Nathalie?" Adrien suggested.

"Nathalie...gave up," Emilie sighed. "She was having too much. She might not be family and the cur- I mean, she was having a hard time."

Adrien frowned. "So what is going to happen now?" Was everything really his fault. He came into this world, and everyone is leaving.

What if his mother leaves next? What was he going to do? Where was he going to go? Who would he turn to?

"Well, I found a school that would be perfect for you, Adrien," His mother cheered. "I think this will be good."

"School?" Although he had said the word a lot of times, it still felt new to him. He'd never left for real school before.

"Yes, school," Emilie nodded. "A normal school. You'll have friends, grow enemies, live a normal life."

Adrien nodded in understanding. Even if his mother had told him a lot of times, he still didn't know why his father had left them.

"He was having too much. Adrien, it's not your fault. Don't think it is. He just wanted to have a break away from us."

Adrien sighed. That answer he always got from his mother didn't seem right. There was something more to it.

"Alright, you'll be going to this new school tomorrow. I have today to get you prepared."

Adrien nodded again. His mouth was to weak to talk. His body was too weak to move. Instead he stood in one spot, hoping that soon he could hop right back on his bed.

That's what he's been doing anyway. Emilie had two hours to homeschool him because she got work. It left him to sleep and eat for the rest of the entire day until his mother came back.

Nathalie wasn't much help either. She didn't homeschool him at all, not that he was complaining. Adrien found Nathalie a bit too strict.

"So you got a new job now, huh?" Adrien finally said, sitting down.

"Yes. I got two jobs," Emilie smiled. "One from 2pm to 5pm, and then the other, I work at night and come back in the morning."

"So basically, you would be gone for like, the entire day?" Adrien didn't like the sound of that. It felt a lot like his mother was leaving as well.

"Yes, but I get a few hours with you right after my first job is finished for the day. See?" Emilie pointed out. "If I end at 5pm, I'll be going to my next work at 9:45pm. How many hours?"

Adrien got it. This was another test his mother was giving him to make sure he knew his math.

"Uh, if you come back at exactly 5pm, you'll get about 4 hours and 45 minutes with me," He answered proudly, showing that he wasn't so bad at math. But 4 hours and even 45 minutes wasn't enough.

"Now, take 20 minutes away from 4 hours and 45 minutes," Emilie said. "Because I will need 20 minutes to get ready for my next work."

Adrien frowned. His mother was just removing more time away.

"Don't give me that look, Adtien," Emilie gave him a small smile. "If I come back in the morning from my second work, and I leave at 2pm, I still get a few hours with you."

"Yeah, but those hours would be spent with me getting ready for school," Adrien frowned. "Just admit it. It will be hard to spend time with each other now."

Emilie sighed and walked up to him, then wrapped her arms around him.

"I'm sorry Adrien. But if I find a way to break this curse, then I promise everything will be fine."

Adrien frowned.

A curse?
