"I believe it's already too late for that."

Emilie looked back at her son, terrified at what he had just said. "What is that supposed to mean?!"

Adrien noticed the way his mother reacted. I better not tell her. What if she hates on Marinette more.

"Nothing. Does it count if it's a kiss on the cheeks, or forehead?"

Emilie shook her head. "No. Cheeks and foreheads don't count." She was glad Adrien hadn't kissed her yet, but was somewhat still terrified. If Adrien had kissed Marinette on the cheeks, there was a very high possibility that he was going to kiss her on the lips the next time. "But don't do it!"

"Don't worry. I didn't," Adrien answered, wondering why he couldn't. Marinette wasn't such a bad girl anyway.

"Good." Emilie didn't say anything after that. They reached home and she unlocked it, both of them walking in. "Get ready for dinner."

Adrien nodded. It was then he realized he was still carrying the bag Marinette had given him.

Whatever is inside this bag, Mom doesn't deserve! She hates Marinette, yet Marinette is trying to get on her good side.

He sighed and dropped the bag on his bed, before he walked downstairs. As he sat down, he touched his lips.

Did that kiss really happen? How could I do that?

I wish it lasted longer.

He felt great, getting him to wonder again why his mom didn't want him to kiss Marinette. The only possible answer to that was that Emilie hated Marinette.

After dinner, which he ate very quickly, he started heading upstairs. Knowing that his mom was going to her second work soon, and will be locking her room, he had decided on a plan.

He closed his bedroom door halfway, and pretended to be asleep. He then heard footsteps walking upstairs.

He peeked a little. He could see his mom locking her door, being thankful that he hadn't fully shut the door.

He watched as she put the key in her purse. That's why I couldn't find it! She had it with her, she always had. Of course she's not stupid.

But it's a good thing I'm not stupid either!

He rose from his bed and yawned, pretending to be tired.

"Adrien, I'll be leaving now. Take care." Noticing that he was awake, she waved and headed for the door.

"Mom, wait!" He ran to her. "I... You can't leave yet. There's something I want to give to you."

Looking a bit confused, Emilie nodded. "Sure, what is it? Please hurry, before I'll be late for work."

"Uh, come upstairs. It's upstairs." Now he was glad Marinette had given him a gift for his mom. He could use it as an excuse.

Emilie followed him. Just as he expected, as she reached to take the bag, she dropped her purse on his bed.

Adrien slowly walked to the purse. "See what's inside the bag, mom? Do you like it?"

"Wow, it's very... Beautiful..." Emilie breathed out. "Wait here, I'm going to try it on."

What is it? Adrien would have asked, but he don't care. What mattered was that his mother liked the gift.

What also mattered was that she had left her purse in his room to go try on whatever she was going to try on.

Bad Adrien!

But I really want to know!

He opened the purse and took out the key. Then he quickly closed it before his mother came out.

"Thank you Adrien. Where did you get that magnificent gift?" Emilie might have take the gift off, because she wasn't wearing anything new.

"Actually," Adrien smiled. "It was all Marinette. She made the gift for you." Whatever it is.

"Well..." Emilie looked surprised. "The dress does look homemade, and I don't think you can make dresses. Of course it had to be her. Say thank you to her when you get the chance."

Adrien nodded. He took her purse and handed it to her. "You better get going now, or else you'll be late."

"Yes, yes, I do!" Emilie hurried back downstairs. When he heard the front door shutting, he headed to his mother's bedroom.

Time to finally find out what she's been hiding!
