"Was what you said really true?"

Marinette looked up as soon as Chloe and her minions left with Mrs. Bustier. She forgot Adrien was still here. "What?"

"What you said about Chloe. Was it true?" Adrien asked.

"Oh, I..." Marinette sighed. "I just really thought she deserves it, but no, it wasn't true. She's just really been getting in my nerves."

"I'm not really a fan of Chloe, but I'm not a fan of liars either," Adrien folded his arms. "Don't do it again. Just tell the truth. It's not like you were at fault anyway. I saw everything that happened."

Marinette nodded. "Right, I won't. It's the first time I have anyway, but I promise not to do it again."

"Anyway, I wanted to say," Adrien pushed the conversation to the back of his head and started a new one. "Thanks for that gift yesterday that you gave me."

"Um, no problem. I'm glad you liked it anyway."

The bell rang. Marinette groaned and went to pick up her books that were still unbelievably on the floor.

"I'm officially late for class. First time as well," She turned to Adrien. "Do you have the same class as me?"

Adrien shook his head sadly. I got a class with Chloe in it. Why can't there be a class where both me and Marinette are in it, but without Chloe? She's always ruining stuff.

"Wait!" Adrien grabbed her arm before she left. "I wanted to ask, have you got plans after school?"

Marinette chuckled. "Yes, with Alya, my best friend. Why?"

"Uh, never mind." Adrien suddenly felt embarrassed for asking.

"But that doesn't mean I'm going to spend my whole day with Alya," Marinette quickly added. "If you want-"

"Sure."

"How would you know what I was going to say?" Marinette laughed. "It's like you were expecting it to happen." Adrien liked away, red blush covering his face. "But yeah, sure. I'll see you after my hangout with Alya." She started walking away.

Adrien watched as she started walking away, staring at her back. He quickly peeled his eyes off of her, and gasped when he saw a book lying on the floor.

She forgot one of her books.

He picked it up and looked at it all over. I know I'm late for class, but it wouldn't hurt to go and and hand her back her book, right?

He looked up. Marinette wasn't that far away from him. Maybe if he caught up.

"Marinette, wait-"

Marinette would have turned around, but then the girl, Alya, suddenly took her attention, talking to her about random stuff. Marinette focused on her friend as the two walked together to class.

"Marinette, how can you be late for class?" Alya huffed. "I had to come out and look for you because I was worried something happened. I know you're usually late, but not this late!"

"I'm sorry, Alya."

Adrien didn't give up though. He followed the two girls, hoping to catch up with them.

Alya and Marinette walked inside their class, and Adrien was left alone outside, on the hallways.

Adrien gulped and knocked on the class. The teacher opened the door. "Hello. Are you a student in this class?"

"Er, no. One of your students forgot her book, so I'm giving it to her." Adrien answered as he handed the book to the teacher. "Marinette. Marinette Dupain-Cheng."

The teacher nodded and went inside, leaving Adrien to walk back to his own class, late.

"Here you go, Marinette."

Marinette looked at the book. "Of thanks you. This is actually the book I needed for this class. How could I have forgotten it?!"

"Some boy came to hand it over," The teacher smiled as she walked back to the front. "How sweet of him. Alright, let's start class."

"Oh," Alya whispered and chuckled. "Marinette already got a boyfriend?"

"No," Marinette nervously laughed. She had an idea on who it might be.

-------

"Hey Mari-"

"Hey Marinette."

Adrien was quickly interrupted by some redhead guy. I should wait. This must be one of Marinette's friends.

"Oh hey Nathaniel," Marinette waved at the boy. "What's up?"

"The... Ceiling?" Nathaniel asked and Marinette chuckled.

"Very funny."

"Anyway, I hope you got your book back, that's the reason I walked up to you."

Marinette seemed surprised at his words. "Nathaniel, you're the one that got my book back?"

Adrien widened his eyes. What?! Who was this boy? Why was he lying?!

"Yes, I was." Nathaniel smiled. "I saw the book lying around in the hallways. I happened to be passing by. Well, anyway, I saw that guy... That new guy around your book."

"Huh?"

"I think that new guy took your book." Nathaniel exclaimed. "I saw him put your book on the floor and walked away. So I walked up to it and realized it was your book."

Adrien clenched his fist. Not only was he lying about the book, but this guy was also making up stuff that wasn't even true.

"Yeah, stay away from him."

"Okay, first of all, Nathaniel, Adrien wasn't the one that dropped my book!" Marinette huffed and folded her arms. "I dropped my books."

"So then why didn't that guy pick it up for you?"

"I did!" Adrien had had enough. "I did, you liar!"
