"What do you mean a curse?" Adrien broke the hug. "What curse? What are you talking about? Is that really the reason Dad and Natalie left us? I've got so many questions. Please, answer!"
Emilie gulped. She had messed up by accidently mentioning the curse. Adrien was not supposed to know about it.
Something was what had happened when her sister knew about it. Curiosity. That one word that ran in the family.
What if Adrien started getting curious and decide to test if the curse is actually true? What would happen then? The girl he kissed would obviously not want to kiss him again, as she would be scared of what was happening.
Or worse. What if Adrien knew about the curse, and decided to leave her, just like everyone else had been doing. She would then be alone. Everyone would have gone their separate ways. She couldn't lose Adrien.
"Adrien, it's nothing. Let's get on to your lessons, okay?"
"No!" Adrien stood up. "I'm not a little kid anymore, mom! I deserve to know what's going on! If I knew, maybe then I would stop blaming myself for everything that has been happening!"
"Adrien, it's not your fault..."
"I know it's not!" Adrien yelled, getting frustrated. "If this curse is what is making everyone leave, then just tell me what the curse is all about."
Emilie kept quiet, lost for words. I guess you could say the cat got her tongue.
"Fine! Don't want to tell me?" Adrien glared at her. "Then I'll find out myself."
"You don't-"
"Now you decide to talk to me?!" Adrien folded his arms. "All I want to know is about the curse you're talking about. What's so hard about that?!"
Oh Adrien, you don't know how hard it is...
-----
Adrien... Adrien... Adrien...
Adrien's eyed flunged opened and looked in front of him. About 26 other people were looking back at him. Where was he?
Someone cleared her throat beside him. "Adrien, are you okay? I asked you to do a little introduction to your class, but you just zoned out."
Class? Was he in school?
"Ah, is it okay if I don't?" He looked up beside him to see a woman there. He expected his mother to be there, but it was a totally different woman. That must be his teacher.
"Of course," The woman smiled. "I hope you enjoy this new school, Adrien. If you want, you can take a seat next to Nino. He's the boy right in the front row."
Adrien nodded as he started walking up to the boy his teacher had told him to sit with.
Different peers of eyes stared back at him, and he didn't like this attention. Taking a seat, he was glad when the teacher brought the class's attention.
"So your name is Adrien, huh?" Adrien turned to meet a girl with blonde hair. She smiled at him. "If you want-"
"Chloe, I like that you are interacting with the new student. But perhaps not when I'm trying to teach?"
Chloe looked down. "Sorry," She mumbled.
The teacher smiled at her. "But feel free to show him around after class is over."
The girl nodded at her, Adrien quickly for getting her name as he was trying hard not to show his face.
For that class, he learned exactly what his mother had taught him.
Bringing up his mother in his mind, he wondered if she was doing okay. He still felt bad. Maybe he shouldn't had yelled at her. Maybe he shouldn't had gotten so mad.
His mother was suffering with two jobs just to make sure he had food to eat, a house to live in, and yet he was making everything hard for her.
"Are you okay?"
Adrien looked up. Now another girl was facing him. She gave him a warm smile, and Adrien couldn't help but relax in it.
Just as he was about to reply, the first girl stood up and yelled. "Marinette, why are you bothering him? He obviously needs to do his work, and you do yours!"
"Chloe, please don't yell," The teacher warned.
"Marinette was disturbing the new kid!" Chloe huffed. "I had to make sure she wouldn't bother him any longer."
"I was just asking him if he was okay?" The other second girl shrugged, her blunette hair moving.
Just then a loud ringing sound was heard. The teacher put down her book.
"Alright, that was the bell. Let's get ready for our next class. Chloe, you can go ahead and show Adrien around."
Why can't the other one do that?
He found himself asking that question. The thing was, he hadn't realized he had said it out loud.
"What was that, Adrien?"
He gulped. "N-nothing."
"Alright, come along now, Adrien. I promise you, you're going to like this school." Chloe grabbed his arm and dragged him out of class.
"Just to tell you Adrien," Chloe looked up at him when they were a little further away from the class.
"Stay away from Marinette..."
