Author's Note:

Chapter 7! This is about the halfway mark of the story, the estimated total chapter count is somewhere between 12 and 15. It's been a blast writing it!

I'm still fangirling over the new Sanders Sides video, so this chapter is pretty heavy on the Sanders Sides side (lol). But I promise there's still some Danny content in here, and even more up ahead in future chapters.

Anyway, as always, thanks for reading! Enjoy!

Virgil was sorry to leave Thomas behind, especially when his mind was in such a bad place. But he knew he had to find Patton and catch him up to speed before it was too late.

He followed the path of Thomas' brain that was scattered with feelings of warmth, of nostalgia,... and some deep pains.

He happened upon a living room of sorts. It was very similar to Thomas' at home, just furnished a little differently. There, he found Patton, adjusting the thermostat.

"Patton?"

"Oh, hey!" Patton greeted, surprised. "I was wondering when one of you were gonna show up!"

"You're... playing around with the thermostat?"

"Yeah! Got cold," he chuckled. "Also, I... I was too afraid to leave. You know, his brain's different now. I don't wanna get lost."

"Can't say I blame you. Honestly? It's pretty bleak out there."

"Well, then, come on in. Sit down, make yourself at home. I'll see if I have any extra Triscuits or-"

"Patton. We don't have time-"

"Hey. What happened to your face?" Patton interrupted, noticing Virgil's bruises for the first time.

"Had a confrontation with the darkness," Virgil replied vaguely, not wanting to worry Patton.

"Wow, same ol' emo Virgil," Patton giggled. "But really. Are you alright? Who did that to you?"

"I don't know, exactly. Ever since the spell took over Thomas, his Dark Sides have become bolder and stronger."

"And they... they hurt you?"

"...Yeah," Virgil replied honestly, too afraid to lie.

"Virgil," Patton frowned sympathetically. "I'm sorry."

"Don't worry about me," Virgil shook his head. "It's the least of our concerns. They're still out there somewhere, and Thomas could be in serious danger."

"Come to think of it, there was a guy pretending to be me. Back at Jojo Siwa's house. He was even making dumb dad jokes. Do you think he was one of these Dark Sides?"

"Probably. There are so many sides of Thomas that we hardly ever see."

"Like what?"

"Well, I have my theories about what they represent, but... I'd rather not say them out loud. I don't wanna invite them here. The guy parading as me,- let's just say he's not the most pleasant person ever."

"Logan and Roman,... are they affected by this too?"

Virgil nodded. "We need to go find them before Drew gets back. Maybe we can come up with a plan to-"

Before Virgil could finish his sentence, he vanished.

"Virgil? Where'd you go?" Patton exclaimed. "Virgil!"
