Chapter 45

Annabelle...

Today was going to be the worst day ever. It was gonna be miserable, and I was going to have to sit here and listen to Niall drone on all morning about his stupid little date. Don't get me wrong, yes I loved Niall, but he was still my best friend of so many years. As much as it hurt, I just really needed to keep my mouth shut and be a supportive best friend.

"I can't believe how gorgeous and adorable you look in that dress!" Eleanor shrieked as she sat on the bed watching Melanie do my make-up.

"Thanks, El." I half smiled. I did really love the way this dress looked on me.

"All done!" Melanie's voice brought my attention back to the mirror. I dropped my jaw the slightest bit as I stared at my reflection. I looked perfect. I have never looked or felt like this in my life.

"Thanks, M, thanks, El. It means a lot that you guys helped me with this." My smile slowly morphed into a frown. "But why? I'm just hanging out with Niall, who doesn't care, and then the party isn't until later."

"Well..." Melanie started as she glanced at Eleanor.

"I'll be really busy for the rest of the night to help Louis with the party so I had to do it now." Eleanor finished for her.

"Oh, and here!" El interjected as she tossed me a pair of nude spandex shorts. "You're going to need those."

"Okay?" I said, very confused. I opened my mouth to say something else, but was cut off by the doorbell ringing.

"Ah, he's here!" Melanie strangely shouted before a random grin broke out on her face.

I just looked at the two of them weird before I turned around to grab my purse, and I'm almost positive I heard them squeal. But when I turned back around, they were both standing there like normal.

Weird...

"Okay well, I'll see you guys tonight then. Wish me luck on this terrible day." I dramatically whined.

"Oh hush, it won't be that bad. Trust me." Eleanor added in with a comforting and knowing smile.

I made my way down the stairs and opened the door. Niall smiled widely when he saw me. His whole face lit up and he took a second to trail his eyes up and down to take in my appearance. I was flattered and my heart warmed by his reaction, but it quickly faded away when I realized that he didn't see me as anything else. He was simply my best friend who happened to be a teenage boy.

"Annabelle, you look amazing." He breathed as he pulled me in for a hug. I allowed his scent to trail into my nose and I felt like I could melt into him.

Stop, Annabelle. He's going on a date for goodness sake's.

He pulled away and it was my turn to admire him, while trying to make it as less obvious as I could. He had on grey skinny jeans, a white t-shirt, with a red and blackish patterned flannel over it. He had white converse covering his feet, his black RayBans hanging from his pocket, and his hair styled up really nicely.

He looked so good I could cry, because he wasn't dressed up like this for me. "You look really good too, Nialler. This Anna is one lucky girl." I said with an added laugh that I prayed didn't sound pathetic and fake.

"You look absolutely beautiful." Niall said again.

"You already said that." I jumped at Eleanor's voice. It was then I realized they were still standing there.
