Chapter 66

Niall... *20 Minutes Earlier*

I hung up the phone and sloppily pushed it into my pocket as I slung my arm around Jake. "Who was that, kid?"

"My friend, Melody." I slurred, and then giggled"Mullingar, Mullingar, Mullingaaaarrrrrr!" I chanted drunkenly as I waved my arms above my head.

I heard Jeff chuckle from beside me. "Wow, you seriously are hammered."

"I'm not drunk." I giggled. "Only tipsy."

"Tipsy my ass."

"Oh relax, Jack. It's not like you've never gotten shit faced before."

"Again, it's Jerry. And not nearly as pissed as you are." He chuckled again.

Is laughing at me all this guy can do?

"Hey Jerry, I have a question." I stated as I held up my index finger. "Do polar bears and seagulls have slumber parties on abandoned islands? This guy in my head told me they do."

He just stared at me in complete amusement before laughing again. "Man, if I didn't know you were drunk, I would have thought you needed to be checked into a mental hospital." He cracked up.

Mental hospital?

Hospital.

Hospital!

Holy shit.

My drunken mind started to haze over. The sound of Jerry's laughter, and all the other noise in the pub, started to fade into background noise. The image of Annabelle's bruised and pale face blinded my vision. Realization hit me so hard that I actually slid off my chair and stumbled backwards. How could I forget? I knew I was absolutely drunk as fuck, and had no idea what was going on, but how could I have forgotten?

'Someone get the defibrillator. Her heart stopped.'

Oh my God.

She's dead.

Gone.

An indescribable pain started scorching my heart. I actually had to clutch my chest and gasp for breath. Soon my gasps turned to cries, which turned to sobs. I was too out of it to realize the scene I was causing. Everything just started to swarm my brain, and with me being extremely drunk, it hit my head ten times harder. I wasn't only not myself from being drunk, but my head suddenly created an alter ego that was attacking me from the inside.

You did this.

It's your fault.

She's gone now because of you.

My eyes were squeezed shut, hoping to block out everything, but my mind started to create things on me. Even though I never witnessed it, my brain started playing scenes, horrific scenes, of her getting beaten.

You're a monster

"I'm a monster." I mumbled. "It's all my fault."

Yeah, it's all your fault.

"She's gone."

I finally started to take notice of the hand shaking my shoulder. "Hey, are you okay, kid?" I looked up to see Jerry's worried eyes.

"I'm done." I whispered before I whipped around and started fleeing towards the entrance.

I have to get out of here.
