He wasn't there when his son was born, his third child.
Why would he be? He was a ruler, he had so many things to take care of, so many plans to unfold.
Besides, he already had two daughters that could follow in his footsteps just fine, so why would he bother with a third kid?
He would know why, almost two and a half decades down the road. He would know why, when his neglected son formed a mind of his own, and turned against his father.
He would know why, when his own son proved to be his downfall.
