She had always been told that she shouldn't like girly things.
Well, to be fair, she wasn't explicitly told just that. But the way so many people talked condescendingly about it, she still got the distinct feeling that it wasn't right to like those things. That she'd be better of preferring boyish things.
Of course, one can't force their preferences or interests, and so they hid right beneath the surface for years.
Until the day she found the courage to be her true self, pink clothes, pop songs and romantic stories included.
And the naysayers? To hell with them.
Author's Note: This one is based on someone's actual experience in life, and I wanted to dedicate this theme to her since I was impressed by her courage in being herself, even though the people around her told her not to be. So while it might have political undertones, that wasn't the reason I wrote it.
