Chapter 5

Friday - the next morning (10 AM)
Selena: we aren't going to let her sleep in anymore are we?
Nick: you want me to wake her up because I will
Justin: she's probably hung over
Joe: good she shouldn't have been drinking again
Nick: I just punished her for drinking the other day but clearly she didn't learn her lesson
Selena: nick when she's on tour don't let her get away with things she shouldn't and stay strict with her
Nick: after last night she's not getting out of my sight
Demi: and if the boys are busy then she'll stay with me but don't worry Sel she's going to be fine
Selena: I hope
Kevin: well it's ten thirty now and we have to be at the airport by one so are we waking her up?
Nick: yeah I'll go do it (Walks upstairs)
Selena: first room on the left
Nick: thanks (opens the door and lightly shakes her) Clare wake up
Clare: (mumbles) go away I am tried
Nick: (sighs) I am not doing this with you now get up or your not going to like the consequences
Clare: (pulls the sheets over her head)
Nick: okay you want to act like a child you have till the count of three one... two...
Clare: three now let me sleep
(Nick grabs the sheets and throws them on the floor)
Clare: what the hell!!
Nick: lose the attitude and don't talk to me that way your still in trouble from last night
Clare: I don't care
Nick: trust me your going too but before that I want you to go downstairs so we can talk about last night and then we'll discuss your punishment
Clare: your not spanking me again I'll tell you that right now
Nick: you don't get to tell me anything you are the child and I am the adult now lose the attitude before we go downstairs or your going to go down there with a sore bottom
Clare: I told you already your not going to spank me and I'll go downstairs when I want too
Nick: this is your last warning lose the attitude and come downstairs
Clare: no
(Nick sits on the bed and pulls her over his lap)
Clare: fine I'll go downstairs just put me down!!
Nick: too late I gave you more then enough chances and you still decided to act like a child

Nick: are you ready to come downstairs
Clare: (tears in her eyes) okay fine
Nick: let's go
(Clare and nick walk downstairs where everyone is sitting on the couch)
Joe: look who decided to finally come down
Clare: shut it uncle joe
Nick: hey! Do we need to go back upstairs?
Clare: no
Nick: no what?
Clare: no sir
Nick: good now go sit with your mom and Justin so we can talk about last night
(Clare walks over and sits between them)
Nick: I don't even know where to start to be honest I am just appalled at the behavior last night
Selena: okay I'll start what were you thinking!? You didn't even think about how worried we would be when we got home and you weren't there
Justin: Clare we trusted you to stay home even though you were grounded because your fifteen and you should be allowed to stay home for a couple hours on your own but recently your behavior has shown us that you can't be by yourself and the trust that we had in you is broken now do you realize that?
Clare: yeah I do
Joe: I just want to know why you think it would be okay
Clare: I knew it wasn't okay but I didn't care and I did it anyways
Demi: why though?
Clare: because it was my last day and I wanted to be with my friends and have fun and not care for once about what anyone would think
Kevin: you call those people your friends? Clare they are terrible influences and I understand that you wanted to go out and do what you want but you have a reputation and you have people that look at you and what you do reflects on us and it reflects on your mom and Justin as well
Clare: oh so what I am hearing is you guys only care about your stupid reputation as celebrities? Well I am sorry I am not the perfect daughter or niece you want me to be and I don't care if I have paparazzi watching me they choose to spy on me like stalkers I am going to live my life the way I want too
Selena: well I am sorry to tell you Clare but that's not what we want for you and until your a legal adult your our responsibility and we will not allow you to do whatever you want or dress however you want or make out with whoever you want, I want you to grow up to be a respectful young lady
Clare: no what you want is for me to be your little doll in the spotlight, you want me to Hollywood's little princess well I am not little anymore and I refuse to be treated like a child!
Justin: you just turned fifteen you are still a child and lately you have been acting more and more like one so if that's how you want to behave that's fine but there will be consequences to your actions
Nick: yeah and this behavior will not be tolerated while we are on tour and demi will approve of everything that you wear because I am not going to have my daughter give guys the wrong idea
Clare: that's their problem not mine
Joe: okay fine well have a little respect for yourself then
Clare: I do respect myself
Kevin: no you don't because if you did you wouldn't dress so inappropriate
Selena: and where did you even get that outfit, I would never buy something like that
Clare: when I went shopping with Valerie a couple times
Nick: you have your own debit card?
Clare: yeah
Selena: it was supposed to be used for emergencies only and if she wanted to buy anything she would need to tell us first
Justin: which you clearly didn't do so looks like we are going to have to take the debit card away too now
Clare: that's not fair! What if I want to get something
Nick: you either ask us or you earn it yourself
Clare: this isn't fair
Justin: I hate to tell you this Clare but you brought this on yourself now I think we are done talking so go upstairs while we talk about your punishment
Clare: whatever I hate you guys (walks upstairs)
Nick: you can add that to your punishment young lady!
Clare: don't care!!!
(Clare goes up to her room and the adults start talking)
Selena: I never thought I would say this but nick use the belt on her
Justin: wait Selena are you sure?
Selena: yeah she's out of hand and I am exhausted, I don't know what to do anymore
Nick: okay well she's never gotten the belt before and I am not going to spank her out of anger, this is supposed to be something she needs to learn from
Kevin: the first time I spanked Alena with the belt I did twenty with my hand and five with the belt
Nick: that sounds reasonable
Selena: okay so we agree?
Demi: yeah
Joe: she deserves it
Nick: alright and then she needs to pack and we need to head to the airport because we are not about to miss our flight either
Joe: okay
(Nick goes upstairs and opens Clare's room)
Clare: what do you want?
Nick: have you not heard anything we said downstairs?
Clare: yeah but I don't care
Nick: you are so stubborn, you get that from joe you know
Clare: whatever
Nick: alright well you already know why I am up here and we have to get to the airport so let's just get this over with so we can move on okay
Clare: please daddy I promise I won't do it again
Nick: nice try but it's not going to work (sits on the bed) now are you going to do it willingly or am I going to have to pull you over my leg
Clare: there's no getting out of this is there
Nick: not a chance
Clare: fineeee (lays over his lap)
Nick: thank you for not fighting me and I am going to give you twenty with my hand and five with the belt
Clare: the belt!?!? Dad I have never gotten the belt!
Nick: I know that's why your only getting five and maybe you'll think twice next time you want to sneak out or drink now I am going to start
Clare: okay

Clare: please stop dad! I am still sore from earlier!! (Tears in her eyes)
Nick: good that was a warm up and maybe you'll stop having an attitude

Clare: I am sorry!!! (Crying)
Nick: five more princess (takes off his belt)

(Nick puts the belt down and pulls her up and hugs her)
Clare's pov
I hate when he spanks me it hurts too much and I hate crying but I can't help it he pulled me up and started hugging me and I was crying saying I was sorry and he was just rubbing my back up and down trying to calm me down.

Nick: I don't want this to happen again is that understood?
Clare: (whimpering) yes sir
Nick: good I love you so much baby and the only reason I do this is because I want you to learn from your mistakes
Clare: I know, I love you too daddy and I don't think I could ever hate you guys
Nick: I know but I think there's a couple more people you need to apologize to right?
Clare: yeah (wipes her eyes) let's go downstairs
Nick: good idea
(They walk downstairs and Clare walks over to Selena and Justin)
Clare: I am sorry I worried you yesterday mommy, I didn't think about how you guys would feel and I am sorry
Selena: aww baby girl it's okay (hugs her) we love you so much and we only want what's best for you
Justin: and sometimes that means a little tough love and even though we get mad at you we still love you and that's not going to change okay?
Clare: okay (hugs him and walks over to joe, Kevin and Demi) I am sorry uncle joe for telling you to shut up that was disrespectful of me I was just upset
Joe: I forgive you just don't let it happen again okay (hugs her)
Clare: okay
Demi: alright why don't you go upstairs and pack really quick because we have a flight to catch
Clare: okay
(Walks back up to her room)
Clare's pov
Once I was back in my room I grabbed my pink sweatpants with my gray long sleeve and decided I would wear that for the flight and then I grabbed my purple suitcase and I just started putting in clothes that I would need and then I grabbed my duffel bag and put my girl products inside and last I grabbed my carry on which had my laptop, my phone, chargers and headphones and twenty minutes later I was ready to go so I went downstairs.

Kevin: ready to go babe?
Clare: yeah
Nick: alright say bye your mom and Justin and before I forget hand me your phone, you'll get it back when I think you deserve it
Clare: I am to tired to argue (hands him the phone)
Nick: good choice
(Clare walks over to Selena and Justin)
Clare: I am going to miss you guys
Selena: we are going to miss you too but this is going to be good for you and you'll get to spend time with nick and you'll get to see your cousins
Clare: I know
Justin: three months will fly by kid you'll see (hugs her)
Clare: yeah and I'll call you guys
Selena: you better or your going to be in trouble
Clare: haha okay I promise I'll call every night
Selena: good (hugs her) I love you so much baby girl
Clare: I love you too
Nick: ready to go hun?
Clare: yeah let's go
(They all day bye to Justin and Selena and then get in the car)
Clare's pov
We had to stop at dad's house first because they needed their stuff but they were already packed so it was a quick in and out and then we started the drive to the airport, luckily it wasn't that long of a drive so I didn't need to sit that long and before you ask yes it hurts but I am trying to ignore it. It was twelve by the time we got to the airport and the security took thirty minutes so we barely made the flight but thankfully we did and I sat with uncle joe and Kevin since my dad and Demi wanted to sit together but I didn't mind because I like being with uncle joe and Kevin.

Clare: we are stopping first?
Kevin: well we are going to go to jersey to pick up the girls and stay there for a day or two and then drive to New York where we will officially kick off the tour
Clare: cool, I am excited
Joe: good the last time you went on tour with us you were like six
Clare: haha I only remember bits and pieces
Kevin: yeah that's understandable
Clare: (yawns) I am tired
Joe: you can sleep for now and we will wake you up when we land
Clare: okay (lays her head on his shoulder and falls asleep)
A couple hours later
Kevin: guys wake up (lightly shakes joe and Clare)
Joe: hmm
Kevin: we are landing
Joe: ohh okay (sits up which wakes Clare up)
Clare: are we there yet?
Joe: yeah we are landing
Clare: who's picking us up?
Kevin: Dani and the girls and then our parents and Frankie are coming over for dinner
Clare: yay! I can't wait to see grandma Denise and grandpa Paul
Joe: when was the last time you say them?
Clare: Christmas last year
Joe: they are going to be so excited to see you
(The plane lands and they get off and grab their bags and a few minutes later they find Danielle and the girls)
Alena: Clare!!! (Runs and hugs her)
Alena: I missed you! I can't believe your here dad didn't say you were coming!!
Kevin: yeah I thought it would be nice to surprise you guys and say she's going on tour with us
Valentina: yay!!! This is going to be the best summer ever!
Danielle: hey sweetie (hugs her)
Clare: hi aunt Danielle (hugs her back) well grandma and grandpa are already at the house cooking so let's get going
Nick: awesome I am starving
Demi: babe
Nick: what we haven't eaten anything all day remember we skipped breakfast
Clare: yeah I am hungry too
Danielle: well there's plenty of food at the house so let's go, joe have you talked to Sophie?
Joe: yeah she lands tomorrow
Danielle: awesome
Alena: we have so much to catch up on
Clare: absolutely there's so much I need to tell you
(They walk to the car and get in and start driving to the house)
Clare's pov
On the car ride there we listened to music and I talked with Alena and Valentina and i forgot how much I missed my cousins since the last time I saw them was Christmas of last year too, sometimes I wished they lived in California, it would be so much better if they did. After a forty minute drive we got to their house and parked and started getting the bags out of the trunk and walked inside.

Joe: we are home and guess who we brought!!!
(Denise and Paul walk over)
Denise: oh Clare! What a nice surprise (hugs her) we have missed you
Clare: I have missed you too grandma
Paul: there's my second granddaughter, you have gotten so big and your beautiful hunny
Clare: thanks grandpa
(Frankie walks behind her and picks her up)
Clare: ahhh!! Uncle frank put me down!!
Frankie: okay fine (puts her down and hugs her) how are you?
Clare: I am good, how's college?
Frankie: it's fine but tell me what's up with you lately?
Nick: she's become quite the trouble maker
Frankie: oh really
Clare: somewhat but let's talk about later, grandma is the food ready yet I am starving
Denise: lucky for you dear it is come on I'll serve you a plate
Clare: thanks
(They all walk to the table)
Clare's pov
We said grace and then sat down and ate and the table was filled with conversation and laughter and I realized how much I missed this side of the family, i only get to see them when I am with dad and that's not very often. After eating dinner the girls took me to their room and brought an inflatable mattress so we could sleep in the same room tonight and as we were looking for something to watch on Netflix dad walked in.

Valentina: hey uncle nick what's up?
Nick: I just wanted to tell Clare to call her mom and tell her you landed and say goodnight (hands her the phone)
Clare: does this mean I can have my phone back (says in a hopeful voice)
Nick: nice try bring it back to me when your done
Clare: fineee
Nick: alright I'll be in the living room (walks out of the room)
Alena: why did you get your phone taken?
Clare: it's a long story let me calm my mom and then I'll tell you guys everything
Them: okay
(Clare dials her mom's number)
Phone convo
Selena: hey baby how are you?
Clare: I am good how are you?
Selena: I am good how was the flight?
Clare: it was good I slept most of if but aunt Danielle and the girls picked us up and I have just been catching up with them
Selena: good I am glad your having fun
Clare: I am and I just wanted to say goodnight
Selena: okay night babe we'll talk more tomorrow
Clare: okay byee
Selena: bye hun

Clare: alright let me give this back to him and then I'll catch you guys up on everything
Valentina: okay
(Clare walks downstairs and hands her dad the phone and then walks back to the girls room and catches them up)
Denise: it's so nice seeing Clare again
Nick: yeah I am glad she's with me the whole summer
Paul: you know nick if you want more time with her you could always request for equal custody
Denise: yeah that way we can see her more too
Nick: it's not that easy mom, the boys and I are on the road most of the time and having Clare on a tour bus isn't fair to her
Paul: your doing it now aren't you?
Nick: yeah but that's because Selena wants her to gain some distance from a few friends she's been hanging out with
Denise: how come?
Joe: they are had influences
Nick: yeah but that's not the only reason I wanted her to come on tour with me because I miss her and I want to spend time with her
Denise: that's why she should stay with you
Nick: we'll see
Kevin: it's getting late we should tell the girls to go to bed
Nick: I am not doing it
Joe: neither am I
Kevin: fine I'll do it
(Walks upstairs and opens the girls door)
Kevin: hey girls lights out okay?
Alena: dadddd do we have to go to sleep
Kevin: if you guys want to stay up and talk or watch Netflix that's fine but lights off okay?
Alena: okay night dad
Valentina: night daddy
Clare: night uncle Kevin
Kevin: night guys
(He closes the door and walks back downstairs)
Joe: what happened?
Kevin: I told them they could watch Netflix and talk they just needed to have the lights off
Joe: you know they are going to have an all nighter right
Nick: let them, they haven't seen each other in a while and I would like one night where she doesn't sneak out
Demi: are you tired yet babe?
Nick: yeah you want to go up to bed?
Demi: yeah
Nick: alright (grabs her hand) we are turning in for the night
Danielle: okay just pick any of the guest bedrooms
Nick: thanks Dani, night guys
Them: night
(A few minutes later everyone in the house went to bed for the night)
