Chapter 33

Friday
Clare's pov
I woke up next to demi who was still asleep and I looked over and noticed that my dad wasn't on the other side so I assumed he already left with uncle Joe and uncle Kevin or they were downstairs. But I didn't want to wake her up so I quietly got out of bed and walked downstairs and saw that no one was downstairs which meant I was the only one awake so I walked over to the couch and turned the tv on and put on the vampire diaries and watched a few episodes until I heard foot steps coming down the stairs.

Demi: there you are Clare, I woke up and didn't see you in the room and I checked the girls room to see if you were with them and you weren't and I thought you snuck out
Clare: demi calm down I am fine
Demi: you know your not supposed to be by yourself
Clare: I was just watching the vampire diaries it's not that big of a deal
Demi: just let me know that your going downstairs next time
Clare: fine
(Then Dani, Sophie, Alena and Tina come down)
Alena: you should have seen aunt Demi she was about to have a heart attack
Dani: oh don't be so dramatic Alena it wasn't that bad
Clare: you guys are freaking out over nothing I am fine, I am watching tv, can we move on?
Demi: yes
Tina: what's the plan for today since the boys are busy
Sophie: we were thinking a shopping spree
Alena: yes!
Tina: okay!
Clare: I could use some new clothes
Dani: great Sophie and I can make breakfast while Demi goes upstairs with you guys
Tina: your not monitoring us now are you?
Dani: no you and Alena can get ready in your rooms I am talking about Clare
Tina: oh okay let's go Alena
Alena: okay
(Tina and Alena go back upstairs)
Clare: Alena and Tina are upstairs why can't they just observe me
Demi: sorry sweetie but we aren't leaving you alone, you know this already
Clare: you and dad are completely going overboard (gets off the couch and starts walking upstairs with Demi)
Clare's pov
We walked into my room and I walked over to my closet and since today's a pretty hot day I decided to go with light blue criss cross crop top with high waisted jeans and my sandals and walked into the bathroom and left the door open while demi hung out in my room and I took a quick shower, got dressed and put my hair in a braid and I was ready so we went back downstairs where Dani and Sophie made waffles and bacon.

Demi: do you and Sophie mind staying here while I go up and get ready really quick?
Dani: yeah sure and then when your done we'll go up
Demi: okay
(Demi walks upstairs and Sophie serves the girls their breakfast)
Sophie: alright Clare I want you to eat the waffle and at least two pieces of bacon
Clare: that's too much aunt Sophie
Sophie: no it's not now start eating
Clare: okay (grabs the fork and knife and cuts a piece off but then looks at it)
Dani: take a bite Clare
Clare: fine (takes a bite)
Clare's pov
Thirty minutes later I finished the waffle and the bacon and felt pretty accomplished. Demi, Sophie, and Dani along with the girls were all ready to go so we left the house and got in the car and started driving to the mall.

Tina: can we go to the stores that we want and then meet back up here?
Dani: yeah that's fine just stay together and answer your phones if we call
Clare: Can I go with them?
Demi: yeah just promise your not going to end up in mall jail like last time
Clare: haha I promise, and is it okay if I have my phone, you know in case there's an emergency?
Demi: nice try the girls have their phone you don't need yours
Clare: please demi I haven't had my phone in days I feel like I am going to go crazy without it
Demi: what's the real reason you want your phone?
Clare: I want to talk to Ricky...
Demi: promise me you won't go on social media
Clare: I promise
Demi: okay fine but only while we are here (hands her the phone)
Clare: thanks demi (hugs her)
Sophie: alright you girls go on and have fun just stay out of trouble
Alena: we will
(The girls start walking away from the adults)
Tina: let's go into American eagle
Alena: okay
Clare: okay
Clare's pov
We walked towards American eagle and then when we got to the store Alena and Tina walked in and I told them I would catch up because I really wanted to call Ricky and they said okay and walked inside while I went to my contacts and called him.

Ricky: hey Clare
Clare: hey Ricky
Ricky: how did you get your phone back?
Clare: Demi's letting me use it since we are at the mall
Ricky: oh which mall are you at?
Clare: the grove
Ricky: that's not to far, do you want me to go see you?
Clare: if your not busy with the crew then yeah
Ricky: I would rather see you then be with the crew so I'll be there in twenty
Clare: okay call me when your here
Ricky: okay bye
Clare: bye

Clare's POV
I put my phone in my pocket and then joined the girls in American eagle and watched them try on stuff since I didn't see anything that caught my eye. A few minutes later they paid for some shirts and we headed to Hollister.

Alena: so what happened with Ricky?
Clare: oh he's on his way
Tina: really?
Clare: yeah he wants to see me and I want to see him and since I don't have to lie about him anymore maybe things will change
Alena: I don't know you already know how I feel about him and I think you could do better just saying
Clare: i have liked him for so long Alena, I want to see if we have a chance at actually being a couple
Tina: that's if he can change his ways to and actually commit
Clare: I think he can, what do you think of this (shows them a blue off the shoulder crop top)
Alena: it's cute you should try it on
Clare: okay (walks into the dressing room and comes out a couple minutes later) what do you think? (Does a little spin)
Tina: super cute you should get it
Clare: I think I will (walks up to the register)
Clare's POV
We finished at Hollister and walked to Aeropostale and while we were there my phone started ringing so I answered.

Ricky: hey I am here, where are you?
Clare: Aeropostale
Ricky: okay I'll be there in five
Clare: okay bye
Ricky: later

(A few minutes later Ricky walks into Aeropostale and since Clare had her back turned she didn't see him so he snuck up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist and she squealed and turned around)
Clare: you scared me I thought you were some crazy person
Ricky: haha maybe I am crazy for you
Clare: that was so cheesy don't ever say that again (pecks him on the cheek)
Ricky: hey Alena, Valentina
Alena: I got my eye on you, break my cousins heart and you'll regret it
Tina: yeah
Ricky: noted (turns to Clare) want to walk around maybe get something to eat
Alena: sorry but she's supposed to stay with us
Clare: so then you guys come with us but keep a good distance so your not hovering
Alena: ugh fine but only because I love you
Clare: you are the best cousin ever
Alena: yeah yeah come on let's go
(They walk out of Aeropostale and start walking around the mall, Ricky and Clare are holding hands and Alena and Tina are a good distance from them)
Clare: I really missed you
Ricky: I missed you to but I figured I would let you call me since your still recovering...
Clare: thanks
Ricky: how are you doing?
Clare: fine
Ricky: come on Clare I know you, you can't lie to me
Clare: (sighs) honestly I feel suffocated, everyone is constantly hovering over me, my dad has become crazy overprotective I can't even shower by myself without demi or the girls in my room, I can't have my phone and I am trying to keep it together but I am going to hit a boiling point, and don't even get me started on stupid therapy
Ricky: what if I took you out tomorrow? Get you away from everyone for a little while
Clare: (smiles) okay but you have to promise me something
Ricky: what?
Clare: we do the things that we used to do, I want to have fun and not be treated like I am about to break
Ricky: I can agree to that
Clare: can you kiss me to seal the deal?
Ricky: (smirks) I can do that
Clare's pov
Ricky leaned in and our lips touched and the moment that they did I forgot everything that happened the last couple days, I forgot that my cousins were probably watching us kiss but I don't care because right now it's just Ricky and I like it used to be and I am happy. He wrapped his arms around my waist and I wrapped my arms around his neck and ran my hands through his hair and then we stopped kissing because we realized we were in the middle of the mall.

(Valentina walks over to them)
Valentina: hey demi just called and said that the boys are done with their interview so they are going to meet them at Cinebistro in Nordstrom to have lunch
Clare: (turns to Ricky) I don't want you to go yet
Ricky: then I'll stay
Clare: (smiles) okay let's go
(They start walking to Nordstrom)
Demi's pov
Sophie, Dani and I shopped around Macy's, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Kate spade, and Nordstrom and then nick called saying they were done so they were going to meet up with us at Cinebistro so I called the girls and told them to meet us there because we were going to get a table, and a little while later I saw Alena, Tina, Clare and she was with Ricky. I should have known she wasn't just going to talk to him but she wanted to see him.

Dani: she brought Ricky
Demi: I know
Sophie: are you going to say anything?
Demi: no I might not like him but Clare really does and right now he makes her happy which is important
Dani: that's true
(The girls walk over to the adults)
Tina: hey mom (hugs her)
Dani: hey girls did you enjoy shopping?
Tina: yeah we got a ton of cute stuff I can't wait to show you
Clare: I brought Ricky I hope you don't mind...
Demi: not at all how are you Ricky?
Ricky: I am good, how are you?
Demi: I am doing good
(A few minutes later the boys arrive and walk over to them)
Joe: hello my beautiful fiancé, I have missed you (kisses her)
Sophie: I missed you too, how was the interview?
Joe: it was good
Clare: what did you say about postponing the tour?
Nick: we said that we needed to take some personal time because family comes first, that's all the fans need to know unless you want to come out and say something
Clare: not right now maybe later
Kevin: it's your decision
Clare: thanks uncle Kevin
Nick: and I see you invited Ricky
Clare: I hope you don't mind daddy
Nick: I guess not, how are you Ricky?
Ricky: I am good thanks for letting me stay with you guys today
Nick: your welcome just don't break my daughter's heart or I will end up in jail for killing you
Ricky: don't worry I won't hurt her
Joe: you better not because she also has two uncles that will go after you
Clare: okay okay can we stop scaring him and sit down?
Kevin: yeah let's go
(The waiter comes and shows them to their table and they all sit down and order the food)
Clare's POV
I was glad that the boys were talking with Ricky and trying to get to know him, I'll have to make a mental note to thank them later and I was glad that Ricky seemed to really make an effort to talk to them too, maybe things really will be different this time but I don't want to get my hopes up yet. Twenty minutes later the food came and I ordered the macaroni and cheese with fries because they make the best Mac and cheese but the minute the waiter set it down in front of me I felt my stomach churn with anxiety and I could feel my hands start to shake because I just didn't want to eat in public, I didn't want people watching me take bite after bite and i could just imagine how many carbs this is going to be.

Nick: Clare are you okay?
Clare: I I can't I am sorry (pushes the plate away and walks towards the restroom)
Nick: Clare wait (stands up)
Ricky: nick is it okay if I go talk to her? Maybe I can help
Nick: (sighs) fine go
Ricky: thanks (gets out of his chair and walks towards Clare and wraps his arms around her) what happened?
Clare: I just got all these thoughts in my head and my anxiety for the best of me, I can't eat all those carbs I am just going to get fatter (looks down)
Ricky: hey look at me (pushes her chin to look at him) you are not fat and I don't want you to ever say that about yourself, come with me (pulls her hand)
Clare: where are we going?
Ricky: you'll see (walks towards the restroom)
Clare: this is the girls bathroom you can't be in here
Ricky: since when have I ever cared about the rules, now I want you to look in the mirror and tell me what you see
Clare: I don't want to
Ricky: do it for me
Clare: okay (looks in the mirror)
Ricky: what do you see?
Clare: I see a girl who's to short for her age, looks to young, has a big stomach with straight boring hair
Ricky: really? Because I see a beautiful girl that I have fallen in love with, and I love every little thing about her
Clare: (turns to look at him) do you mean that?
Ricky: yeah
Clare: I love you too (kisses him)
Ricky: I know I have had commitment issues in the past but I want you to be mine exclusively, no more playing games your mine and I am yours
Clare: (tears in her eyes) you have no idea how long I have wanted to hear you say that
Ricky: come on let's go back out there before they start to think we are hooking up
Clare: (laughs) it wouldn't be the first time we did it in the bathroom
Ricky: (smirks) or the second
(They walk out of the bathroom and walk back to the table)
Demi: we were just about to send Alena after you two
Nick: feeling better?
Clare: (smiles) yeah (sits down)
Clare's pov
The rest of lunch I ate with Ricky holding my hand and rubbing it for encouragement and a little while later we all finished eating and left Cinebistro.

Nick: Ricky your welcome to come over if you want
Ricky: thanks nick
Clare: Can I ride with him?
Nick: fine but you come straight to the house understood?
Clare: yeah
Nick: alright we'll see you two back at the house
Clare: okay
(Ricky and Clare walk out of the restaurant and towards his car)
Nick: is it weird that I am starting to like this kid?
Joe: no because I am starting to like him to
Kevin: he helped Clare when she was on the verge of a panic attack maybe he's a good kid with a bad past
Sophie: yeah
Dani: and he obviously makes Clare happy
Nick: yeah but come on let's get to the house before they get there before us and have the house to themselves
Demi: (Laughs) good idea
Clare's POV
We got in his car and he gave me the aux so I plugged in my phone and put on pop music and we started jamming to it. Ricky was even singing along which made me smile because he doesn't show that side of him to many people, but I am one of the lucky ones that get to see his soft side. Twenty minutes later we were at the house and I saw mom's car pull up with the girls and then dad's car with the boys so we all walked inside and the rest of the day we sat on the couch and watched movies together and then dad decided to just order pizza for dinner and Ricky stayed for emotional support and around ten dad made him go home and I went upstairs with dad and Demi and fell asleep in the middle of them and was genuinely happy for the first time in a while.
