I froze. I think everyone did. I looked up at the roof, to see Tracy with her hands over her mouth, before desperately trying to get back inside as quickly as possible. Lily just lay there, motionless. My face began to feel really hot, while tears fell from my eyes. Carmen and Tee were struggling to breathe properly and Johnny was a mess. Toby and Gus stood together in shock, while we all gathered round Lily. While the press took photos of Lily, Mike ran over to me and the girls, trying to comfort us.
"It's okay, girls. She'll be okay. Don't panic." he said. He enveloped me in his arms for a few moments as he could see I was panicking.
"Shhh. It's okay," he whispered, stroking my head to calm me down. The ambulance arrived extremely quickly and the paramedics strapped Lily up into a stretcher. Tracy came running out the front door, pushing past everyone to see Lily's stiff body lying there. Gina pushed Tracy out of the way a few moments later, so she was out of the way. It was obvious Gina was annoyed at her, but it wasn't her fault.
In my opinion, it was Christie's. She was the one who came to get Lily, which caused her to worry and go to talk to Tracy. She trusts Tracy with her life. We all do. That's why she went to talk to her. If Christie hadn't arrived, none of it would've happened. I looked at her and looked away when she rolled her eyes at me. I looked for Tracy and ran straight up to her, enveloping her into a tight hug.
"It's okay." I whispered. She was shaking more than me, and was really struggling.
"You're so brave," Tracy said.
"And you can be too." I replied. I took her hand and we walked over to the ambulance, where everyone else was standing.
"Sh-shall I go with her?" Tracy asked Gina.
"I think you've done enough already!" Gina said angrily. She took me by the hand and led me away from the situation. I turned around, seeing Tracy break down in Mike's arms. It killed me to see her so upset. She didn't deserve any of this.
When the ambulance left, people began to leave. We all headed inside with Mike when Gina had gone off to the hospital, and sat down at the kitchen table with Tracy. I pulled up a chair and sat on the end of the table next to Tracy, with Tee and Carmen on either side of the table next to us. People tried to take photos of us through the back window, so Liam and Sapphire told them to get lost. We all sat in silence other than that. I rested my head on Tracy's shoulder, and she snuggled up next to me. She was still shaking, and it broke my heart.
A few moments later, Mike came in with a lady, who was wearing a black blazer and skirt, and had her dark hair tied into a formal looking bun. I sat up, confused as to what was going on.
"Erm guys, listen up please. This is—,"
"I'll take it from here, thanks, Mr Milligan." The woman said. "I'm Leanne Spinks. I've been sent by the council. We're launching a full investigation into how this accident happened. Whilst that's in progress, ElmTree House will be closed, and you will all be placed elsewhere."
We all looked at each other for a moment, before we all began to argue back.
"You can't do this!"
"This is our home!"
"This isn't fair!"
I couldn't actually believe it. I burst into tears and carried on arguing until she stopped us.
"The decision has been taken! And it's final." Leanne said, before walking away. We looked at each other again and continued to sit in silence. Tracy wrapped her left arm around me and let my cry into her, while she held Tee's hand with her right. Everyone else sat with their head in their hands or holding each other's hands. We all couldn't think of anything worse.
