"James, are you seeing this?" Qrow asked quietly.
The stern looking man glared at the screen, knowing something had to be done. "Yeah. It's Taurus."
They both got up, Ironwood walking off with his phone as Qrow pulled his jacket on.
"This asshole's gonna have a bad day..."
———
Blake ran down the road, trying her hardest to get through the crowds until she was right up against the police barricade.
"Ma'am, I'm gonna have to ask you to step back." One of the officers said as he blocked the path. "This is a sensitive situation that requires delicacy."
The raven haired woman pushed against the officer to no avail. "Yang is in there! I need to get in there and help her!!"
"Miss, if you don't back up, I'm going to have to~"
"Stand down, Jackson." A stern voice said, Captain Khan stepping forward.
The man nodded, moving back to let Sienna deal with the situation.
"Y-Yang is in there..." Blake whispered, tears starting to fall from her eyes. "She needs help..."
"You're friends with Mr Arc, aren't you?" The captain asked gently. "I've seen the you around at some of the meetings and events."
"I'm... I'm Yang's girlfriend..." The pale woman sobbed.
Sienna frowned. "This must be very hard for you. Don't worry, we're doing everything we can to calm the situation."
"What we need is for you to calm down."
"And if I don't want to?" Adam asked, his sword pressed against the throat of a woman he was using as a human shield while talking to the negotiator.
"What do you want? We can help you if you let us." She said, being very careful not to trigger the man. "Let her go and we can have a real talk."
"Not going to happen." He laughed. "She's the only reason nobody's shot me yet."
"Stay down on the ground!!"
Adam turned to see a blond man slowly getting off the ground, his hands carefully placed on the back of his neck.
"Let's keep it calm here, we don't want anyone getting hurt." Jaune said calmly. "Let the woman go and use me as your hostage."
The man with crimson dyed hair smirked to himself. "Ok." He said, throwing the woman to one of the White Fang members and putting his sword to the mayoral candidate.
Jaune stepped forward, taking the place of the woman, watching the police barricade carefully for any sign of control.
"So what is the plan?" He asked Adam, trying to buy some time.
The White Fang's leader chuckled darkly. "If you're lucky, we trade you off for the largest sum of money we can get. If you're unlucky, you'll be coming with us. Hopefully we don't have to kill more people than necessary."
"Death is never necessary for progress." The blond said firmly. "If anything, it slows down growth."
"Says the man with the sword to his Adam's apple." The man mocked.
"I've actually been wondering about that." Jaune added. "Why?"
"Why what? Why attack you? We want~"
"No, why the sword? It's kinda an obsolete weapon at this point, don't you think?" He interrupted. "Wouldn't a gun be just as useful?"
———
Yang glared at the nearest masked man to her, wanting nothing but to hurt him badly.
"What are you looking at, bitch?" He hissed, holding a small machine gun in his hands. "You wanna die or something?"
The blonde narrowed her eyes, the man stomping over to her.
"You mute or something?? I'm talking to yo~"
Another moment later and the man was on the ground, the gun being held by Yang.
Two more White Fang raised their weapons and started firing, the blonde being forced behind a cement guide rail.
Adam and the police both turned in time to see the shootout starting, but the confusion didn't last long before the tall man fell with a bullet in his shoulder.
"Stand down!" One of the officers shouted at the man in gray walking forward with a pistol.
"Independent operator." Qrow muttered, holding up a badge. "This guy's going to Atlas."
Adam started crawling away, sprinting deep into the event center until he was out of sight.
Qrow narrowed his eyes. "This place is surrounded?"
"Y-Yeah."
"Good, this won't be quick."
———
When the two shooters were taken out, Yang watched carefully for any other hostiles, spotting Adam holding onto his shoulder while running off.
"That bitch isn't going anywhere..."
"Don't worry, we're already getting a team in there." Sienna explained to Qrow. "SWAT is equipped to move in."
"I'm moving in as well." The bitter man added.
"I don't care what kind of authorization you have when in Atlas." The captain said firmly. "This is Vale, we have different rules here. You'll be lucky if you can get away with shooting him in the shoulder at this point."
"You aren't gonna stop me."
"Think about this, Blake." Roman pleaded. "There are dangerous people in there with a lot of gun. You don't want to be shot, I don't to be shot getting you out of there, and neither of us are old enough to die."
"I'm going to get Yang." The raven haired woman hissed.
Torchwick muttered some profanity under his breath before he glared up at her. "No. You are gonna stay right here until the police say it's~"
The man stopped as a small hand rested itself on his shoulder, turning to see Neo standing there with an expression of determination on her face.
She's going in, and so am I.
