Thirty-Six

I know it's bad to drink in the middle of daytime, but is it my fault when I'm halfway through reaching my working place where I just found out about my biological father? You couldn't blame me. As much as how I'd loved to avoid going to work and avoid meeting him altogether, I have works and missions to focus on.

And then I have assignments to wrestle. I thought to myself which caused another internal groan and another huge gulp of alcohol. I pulled to a parking spot and cut my car engine off, sighing and get out of the car. Yes, I'm drinking and driving. I don't get drunk easily, plus the alcohol won't kick in until like after half and hour later. For me anyway.

"It's not even 6pm and you're drinking already?" Jack's amused voice greeted me when I step into our office room, obviously noticing the bottle I'm holding. I grunted, not bothering to acknowledge him and Louisa. "You do realise we have a meeting in another hour or so right?"

I just make some sort of noise and flip through the paperwork. Our office door open and Cameron step in with all his glory, "Hey I've come with some refreshments for us- Jesus Elaina what happened to you?" He exclaimed noticing my messy hair and probably my annoyed tired face that's permanently stuck on my face now. I glared at him, not saying a word and roughly turn the page. He chuckled and hold his hand up, "Okay I'll stay out of your way I promise."

I rolled my eyes and look down to actually read the content of the paper about the drug dealers I gotta hunt down. I swear if there's at least one mission that don't involved drug, I'd love to be a part of that. It's always the same content. Drugs drugs drugs. I'm getting tired of it.

"I heard that Keaton dating that secretary," I overheard Louisa spoke to the two boys. "I saw them together at the parking lot this afternoon just smooching." I rolled my eyes realising that she's gossiping about people's life.

"I swear they're just about to-"

"Don't you have anything better to do than talking about people's life?" I snapped, cutting her off. All eyes are on me now, curious as to what got me so mad and irritated. "What?!" I exclaimed.

They averted their eyes quickly and focus back on whatever their work are. I grumbled and type on my computer furiously. "Hey you okay?" I look up meeting Cameron's concerned blue eyes, "I've never see you get so irritated like this before." He said slowly.

I frowned and look back on my computer screen, ignoring him. It's still loading for the attachments of the suspects. I don't even know why I never did go through all this information before. Probably because I'm busy getting worked up over other stuff, a voice in my head said. "You can ignore me all you want, but you gotta talk at some point." I heard Cameron said once again, getting my attention.

I sighed, "It's nothing okay. I'm just stress out over work and school assignments." I explained, "You have no idea the amount of work I have to deal with right now." Louisa look at me sympathetically, saying something like 'my poor sister' or something similar like that.

"I can help you with the assignments if you'd like," Jack offer grinning at me. I snorted, shaking my head and ignore him. As if. "You know I heard from Louisa that you went grocery shopping alone the other day." He said with wide eyes, like even him couldn't believe what he's hearing. I mean I don't really like going grocery shopping, not alone anyway.
