Ch. 43: Start over

Forty-Three

I look down at my nails, cringing slightly at the sight of the colour pink. After another few more days of doctor and nurses fussing over me, they finally announced that I'm healthy and I could discharged- But of course, they just gotta give me medications to fully recover from every internal damage. Well most of it except for one I guess. And it's been a couple of days later than Louisa decided that she and I should go out for a sister twin date. I was confused at first cause I didn't agree on anything, but she was determined to get me out of the house. And as you can see, she's succeeded. 

"So are you and Jack a thing now?" I look over at Louisa who is already looking at me eager to know my answer.

I shrugged, "Well I don't know. At one point I feel like we are, and the other I feel like we don't." I answered her truthfully. Scrunching up my brows, "And on the other hand I still have the Kyle situation going on." I reminded her with an annoyed look.

She scoffed, scrunching up her nose like the mere mention of his name disgust her. "Just dump him already. Girl, he left you when you're at your lowest. He don't deserved you at your best." She waved me off with the other hand that the manicurist isn't holding. "I mean we all know Jack is the one for you. Even Halsey agrees. Even Sage, Kyle's own sister!" She exclaimed throwing one hand up in the air.

I laugh. Now Halsey has been sort of added to our little group of friends since she started going out with Max. Even the fact that she's older than him didn't bothers her. And I mean that's good for her though. Max isn't that young anyway. He's only like two years younger than she is. Of course Halsey didn't know that the Elliot she knows is the me. Max has introduced to me as one of his former friends whom he close with when I went to his high school. Sage clearly already knows I'm Elaina Morris, the same girl that got engaged with her brother. She didn't even care one bit that her brother and I may have some misunderstanding, she's just being a good friend. Whatever happens between Kyle and me will stay between the two of us and she won't meddle even if it means I hurt her brother.

"I just don't want to rush into anything." I found myself said after a few moment of silence. Now that the mission is finally over, reality has finally set in. And I'm back to mourning over my family's death. And while Louisa doesn't show it, I know she feel the pain too. "I just feel like if anything were to happen, maybe just not now you know?"

She smile sadly at me but nodded her head in understanding. Unlike me, Louisa finally made it official with Cameron the week I was unconscious on the hospital bed. I found out about it like a couple hours after Jack and I's  little talk. I'm happy that she will be well taken care of by someone who love her so dearly. I also sometimes wonder if she ever feel the need to pause and rewind back the time.

I know I would.

"Sorry we're late girls!" We both look up, spotting Halsey and Sage walking over at us holding two bags on their hands. I raised my brows at them amused. "What? It was on sale." Halsey said in defensive tone. I rolled my eyes and shake my head.

A couple of hours later, we were walking down the street to get to the cafe just a few walking distant from the mall when I stopped dead in my tracks the minute I was met with the familiar brown eyes. Arialyn. The smile that was on her face a second ago vanished when she saw me. I look beside her, Tyler stood there with no emotion in his face. At the hospital when I heard that they had Arialyn and Tyler in a cell, I told Jon that I don't need her to pay for what she did to me. As how much she hurts me for betraying me a couple of times, I didn't forget for the times that she stood by me when I struggle to find my path. I didn't forget the good days we shared. She was my best friend.
