She stared down at her mug, watching the small marshmallows float in the chocolate pond. She sighed.
"Dad..." she finally uttered. "What's love..?" he sighed and leaned back in his chair, folding his hands over his head. "Well Nut-Meg, it's something you really can't describe, when you first witness it, your heart races, you don't know what to do with your feelings, you only think of them, no matter what. But sometimes it's just a flunk. You were this close-" he made a very small hole with his index finger and thumb. "but it was wrong." he sighed. "is that what you're all worked up over?" he asked. She sighed.
"I thought he was the one dad, I truly did.." she sighed. "Well, heartbreak hurts, but your a strong kid, I mean, you have Nick as a brother, and he gets his heart broken every millisecond! And yet there he goes, chasing girls like it never happened." he ruffled her hair. " You'll find someone." she sniffled and nodded. "could... I get my classes switched....?" she asked and he nodded.
"Whatever makes you happy Nut-Meg." "Thank you dad." she said. She sighed and went upstairs, excusing herself from the table and she closed her door, not feeling like locking it. Her tears fell as she looked around her room. Her room was the only thing qualified normal in her life. All she ever wanted to be was normal, not a mess of heartbreak and dyes. She slammed her head down in a pillow, trying to stifle her sobs. She cried and cried until all she could do was sob. She heard the door open slightly, and didn't dare look up. She felt a crease in her bed, and someone rub her back.
"Meg," it was Rex, his voice soft and calm. He didn't say anything for a long time, rubbing her back as her breathing calmed. "if you need to talk, anything, I'm here for you." she sat up slightly, seeing Nick was standing by the door awkwardly. She rubbed her eyes dry, wrapping an arm around Rex, as a temporary hug, using her other arm to fan Nick over to her. He came over and she hugged the both of them.
"I love you guys. More than the world." she said, smiling softly. They both nodded.
"And we love our little sister." they both said at the same time, making her smile wider. They sat there for a bit longer, but then she politely asked them to leave. She closed her door and sighed, laying back on her bed and covering her itchy eyes with her forearm.
"Tomorrow. Tomorrow will be only for me..." she said and rolled on her side, closing her eyes and falling asleep.
