Megan watched as Alanna tried out for Gabriella, only to be with her boyfriend Sadik, a Turkish "thug" who truly wasn't a thug because he would scream at even the slightest amount of blood , who had gotten the part of Troy Bolton. Alanna, who was shaking from the pressure, had surprisingly gotten the part, and her and Sadik gave a peck on the cheek, since anything else would be PDA. Then there was the overconfident Annie, who was projecting her words so much, that the principle had to come in and tell her to quiet down. So they had all gotten the part. Megan didn't want to even get the part, she had only come since Rikki had basically pleaded her to go. But, for some reason, she felt like it was the right thing to do, they wouldn't have a Ryan if she didn't and then they'd just have to quit the play all together. So she guessed she would have to start driving herself to school instead of taking the bus. Alanna and Annie were both getting their script, skimming over it. She decided she wouldn't go by them, and made her way towards RIkki. He was slightly busy but once he had heard her footsteps he turned on his heel to face her and smiled.
"Congratulations on your part Megs~" he cooed and she tilted her head slightly. "Megs?" she repeated, finding the nickname adorable. He nodded excitedly. "Yeah! Because friends have nicknames for each other right?" he asked, as if Rikki, the sweetest boy in the world, had no friends. She nodded and shrugged.
"Some people just don't like nicknames." he looked at her with sad eyes. "luckily," she continued and smiled. "I'm not one of them." he smiled again, his eyes going back to their happy shade of green. He took her hand and began to lead her. "C'mon! Let's go get you fitted for your costumes!" "How many costumes?!" she asked while she followed him. He stopped and thought for a moment. "I think there's three...! Oh, and you have to bring a dress, or a tux if you'd like, we're going to have a dance after the play is done!" he said excitingly, to happy to hide his wide smile. She smirked, seeing how she could crack him. She shrugged, sighing and taking one of the costumes.
"I guess I'll wear my sweatpants then~" he shrugged and smiled. "just be sure to have them red, we're going with a theme." he said and she rolled her eyes. "You really don't mind do you?" he shook his head, smiling his 'I'm sweeter than candy' smile once again. "Whatever makes you comfortable you should wear." he said sweetly and she blushed slightly. Why was he being so kind to her all of a sudden? They had just met! But she had to admit, she really enjoyed his presence, when he was there everything troubling just magically melted away. He snapped his fingers in front of her face, snapping her away from her dreamland.
"I guess I'm not the only one who zones out huh~?" he teased and she rolled her eyes, quickly trying to figure out a lie to cover up why she was staring directly at his face.
"I was just trying to figure out how many scenes I'm in! That's all!" she lied and he rolled his eyes, leading her towards her other costume. "Sure you were Megan and I can fly." he said sarcastically. She rolled her eyes, taking the costume from his hands. They walked around in peaceful silence until he had cleared his throat, trying to catch Megan's attention.
"M-Megan umm w-would it be okay if I.. uh I mean we, we went o-" Annie cut Rikki off, her jumping onto Megan's back, almost making her fall to the ground.
"There you are Megan!! I hope you like dressing in drag~!" she teased and Megan barked back. " It was your plan to get me the part asshole!" she shook her finger, tisking her loudly.
"Naughty naughty Megan, using vulgar language in school!" Rikki chuckled to himself. "Sorry gotta go!" he said and sped off, not something that he would normally do. SO, day after day, prat ice after practice, he would begin to ask her the same question but, day after day, he would be interrupted. Whether it would be a fire drill, someone calling his or her name, or even the awkward silence when the scene would end. The days flew by very quickly, and the day of the play came. Everyone had the jitters, most trying to calm themselves while others using it as a form of expression. All except for Megan, who was scrolling through her phone without a care in the world, a duffel bag thrown over her shoulder.
