"Absence sharpens love, presence strengthens it"

The first week of senior year came and went, it was now Saturday – hence the youngest Carrington was sprawled in between her 1500 thread count Egyptian sheets. Several knocks woke her up from her slumber as she tried desperately to ignore them and continue her dormancy.

"Val?", Richard uttered from the other side of the door, "I'm going to leave your ass if you don't wake up in the next five minutes".

Silence.

A couple of minutes later, he yelled – "I'm going to brunch in the next twenty minutes", he paused, "with or without you".

Groaning, she moved towards her nightstand where her phone was, noticing it was 11:30 in the morning. Not giving a hoot, she face planted her pillow when suddenly her stomach growled.

"I guess I'm going to that brunch", she mumbled to herself while getting in an upright position.

"Richard, I'm coming", she shouted running her hands through her tousled hair, "stop being dramatic".

She walked over to the bathroom then proceeded to her closet to get ready for brunch.

The siblings soon arrived at their destination which happened to be a it place in the city. Dressed to kill, they exited their car and headed inside to be welcomed by a sea of well-known people. People who knew about the Carringtons and were friends of the family. A few familiar faces greeted Valerie and her brother, while others were burned due to some invests of their father. Richard noticed a very familiar face from across the room leaving Valerie to herself, "thanks asshole", she sneered as he walked away. She slowly moved away from the people, towards the bar grabbing a plate of what she wanted then heading outside to the balcony.

A few moments of silence with herself were cut short when a voice surrounded her.

"Need my help with anything, love?".

She hoped this was a dream, a very very awful dream that somehow, she would wake up from

She hoped this was a dream, a very very awful dream that somehow, she would wake up from. Unfortunately, it wasn't because in an instant he was behind her running his arm through her hair.
Turning around, she sneered at him.

"If I remember correctly", she started, "there's a thin line between true love and truly psycho", she continued, "and you Vincent are passed the truly psycho part".

Moving farther from him, she walked closer to the balcony overlooking the city. "Don't be like that", he voiced, "I just wanted to talk". She sarcastically chuckled, "spare me the theatrics Vincent".

"Just like I wanted to talk to you the other day at the café", she instantly thought back to that day, "but your boy toy interrupted us".

She turned and glared at him, "don't think for a second there was an us", she moved closer to him, "there isn't – wasn't- and never will be an us."

He just stood there giving her a displeased look, "so get that through your head", she finished and was going to move from in front of him. But that didn't happen.

He forcefully grabbed her arm, brining his mouth closer to her ear, making it seem like he was placing a chaste kiss to her head, but it was far from it.

"Oh, you're quite wrong from that", he scoffed, "I will have you".

"Have a nice day, love", he voiced and let her go.

Later that evening, Richard was out with Felix leaving Valerie to herself at home – at home with her thoughts.

She walked over to her computer desk grabbing her phone, clicking the first and most recent name on the list.

"You have reached the voicemail box number of Olivia. I can't come to the phone right now. Please leave your message and I'll get back to you when I can"

"Mom, hello.", pause. "It's Val – duh of course you know that", she chuckled nervously. Running her fingers through her hair, she continued, "my birthday is next week, and I know you're going to be in town", she went on, "maybe we can have dinner. Okay bye".

She sighed looking at the number of times she dialed the exact same number and hoped one time she would get a call back.

But every single time was the same, call – leave a message – never return call.

As she walked over to her bed, sprawling down – her phone vibrated.

Hoping it was her mother, she looked at the text from a random number.

"Hey, so I was meaning to let you know that Tom Hiddleston is taken", she read the message with a slight smile, "some Swift girl. Just wanted to let you know. Have a goodnight sweetheart. x C".

Smiling to herself, she wondered if he was still trying to make Blair jealous or he really was interested in her.

But for now, let's just say she didn't mind the second option.
