It was now Wednesday, all the frenzy for university visits dwindled. It was now 9:45, and Valerie was counting down the minutes for her A.P History class to be over. Allison sat next to her and just observed not wanting to say something that Valerie didn't want to hear. When the teacher stopped teaching, she instructed the students to work together for the remaining time of class. Allison leaned over closer to Valerie,
"Hey Val?", she muttered, "are you alright?". To Valerie, her voice seemed like a distant dream, her head wasn't where it was supposed to be.
Nodding she replied, "yeah", she paused, "I just didn't get enough sleep last night".
Allison then looked up towards the door and noticed a familiar face. A face that seemed to be trying to get Valerie's attention.
"Does that reason for you not sleeping happen to be that person outside the door", she stated as Valerie looked up and saw Chuck.
Valerie didn't know why he bothered her so much, after all they hadn't had much time to really get to know each other.
"No, he doesn't", Valerie responded looking back at her work, when suddenly her phone vibrated.
It was from Chuck.
"So, let's finish this", Valerie said ignoring the text and the person outside her class.

Once class ended, Allison parted ways with Valerie.
"I'll call you later for the work assignment", Allison quickly stated as she started to walk to her next class.
"Sounds good", Valerie agreed as she made her way to her locker she stopped when she noticed Nate and Dan leaving a shocked Chuck in the middle of the hallway.
"You've also lost your best friend huh Bass", Valerie stated as she passed him – well tried to but stopped when Chuck grabbed her arm.
"Can we talk?", he voiced moving them towards the wall.
Valerie looked up, "We have nothing to talk about", she stated, "we are merely acquaintances".
Looking deeply in her eyes, "I-we both know it's not like that", he spoke moving a loose hair behind her ear.

"I-I-", she stuttered, "I have to go", she finished once she composed herself leaving him behind, trying to somehow calm her beating heart.
After their encounter, neither of them seemed to crossed paths.

It was around 9:30 at the Carrington household. Richard was out of town doing business that pertained to his father leaving Valerie all alone.
She decided to try and call her mother again since her birthday was coming up.
Dialing the number, her fingers seemed to nervously linger on the call button.
She pressed it.
Ring.
Ring.
Ring.
Ring.
Ring.
"You have reached a full voicemail number; this person can't receive anymore – ".
She hung up the call.
"All those voicemails are probably all mine", she told herself flinging herself onto her bed.
"Why do I even bother", she sniffled as a lonely tear moved down her cheek.
She knew that her mother wasn't the greatest. She showed her true colors as far back as when Rich and Valerie were young. Valerie just desperately wanted to somehow feel like her mother cared, yearned to be with her children.
Throughout the years, they would get a deposit in their bank account – that was the only time their mother contacted them, and it wasn't even her – it was a notification from the bank.
Being the only girl, Valerie wanted and yearned for that motherly advice. Someone she can talk to for hours, about boys and just be there.
While Valerie was upstairs in her room, she didn't know there was a someone arriving at her house.
A familiar face.
Suddenly, her thoughts were interrupted as the doorbell rang.
"Who could it be at this time?", she thought to herself as she walked towards the door.
Opening it, she drew a breath –.
"What are you doing here?", she questioned him.
"What – ", he started, "I just wanted to see you".
