I look out the window of the jeep as it speeds past trees, mailboxes, and buildings. I'm used to being in the desert where its mainly a barren waist land where the sun gives your skin no mercy, yet here your skin is merely kissed by the sun. I've camped out in the Sahara desert, yet I feel miserable just being in a city where you don't have to worry about food, water, and being cooked up by the sun.

Reality really hits me when the driver, Logan, speaks. "So Laura, how do you think your going to like your new school?" Logan asks me as he looks at me through the rear view mirror. In the driver seat is 34 year old Logan Jackson, next to him in the passenger seat is 25 year old Ace Hopkins, next to me in the back is 30 year old Don Long. We're all archaeologist who are mainly focused on solving the mysteries of the Great Queen Acaria. Her and her kingdom were discovered less than a year ago. Much of the items found at the site were broken, and not just erosion and weathered type of broken.

We know about her birth, her families back ground, and her people daubing her the Great Queen Acaria. They thought of her as a god, someone much more powerful than your average pharaoh. She was a I don't need a pharaoh type of woman. The reasoning behind the name her people gave her is unclear, the time between her birth and her being daubed that is unknown since all the clues to it are basically destroyed.

There's two groups of archaeologist, the ones who don't believe Acaria had a child let alone a secret lover, and those who believe she did. The war between the two sides has been raging on for awhile now. We don't have the body of Acaria because well, its no where to be found. Of course I know everything about Acaria, I also know that she isn't as great as people are led to believe. If I told others how I know what I know they would demand evidence; I do have evidence but my evidence is unbelievable.

Me.

"No, not in the slightest." I reply coldly to Logan's question. I don't need to attend school, I already proven that I don't need it; I tested out. But, Logan wants me to attend so I can learn better social skills. I think my social skills are perfectly fine! "Laura, people are scared to approach you." Logan complains. Because the head archaeologist is a wimp doesn't mean I have a bad social skills. "Sorry Laura, but I have to agree with Logan on this one. When Ace confessed his undying love to you, you didn't say a word except okay." Don takes Logan's side and teases Ace at the same time.

A week ago Ace had confessed that he had a crush on me, but my response may have shattered his ego since I really didn't give him much of a response on the subject. I didn't want to have to tell him that I wasn't interested in him, because we work together on a daily basis. Also he's a very nice guy and I don't think I'm the one he would ever want. I'm just a walking sack of sorrow and guilt that could bust at any given time. I don't think he would like to see me break of all people, because I'm not a very gentle person when I do.

Example one, why all the hieroglyphics are broken more than any other.

"Laura, as much as I want to respect your opinion; I have to do this for the sake of the team." Logan says almost in a pleading tone. When he puts it like that it's hard to resist, but I don't want to be thrown in a pool of smelly, hormonal, raging teenagers. I have a good nose, so smelling them isn't the most pleasant thing in the world. I've been a teenager once, even though I'm 17, I wasn't the best person in the world. I'm a vampire and have been alive for centuries. If the signal hasn't been received yet, I'm queen Acaria. Reason why they can't find the body. There isn't a dead body to be found in the first place. Also is how I know I didn't have kids nor a secret lover.

A pharaoh isn't needed for running a kingdom.

The jeep stops and Logan puts it in park. He turns around in his seat to look at me, his eyes show me he doesn't want to do this. I open my door and grab my bag full of school supplies. "I might be late picking you up." Logan informs me, "there is a bench over there. I'll sit there and wait." I tell him before I shut the door. I walk around the jeep and head for the large building with the name Gulvin Hights High School in big black letters on the side of the building. I hear the jeep drive off from the distance while I enter through the glass doors of the school.
