No, it can't be...
Alfred..?
No that's impossible, preposterous even! Alfred died long ago in the 1800's, there's no way this is him. But he was the only one who ever saw the sadness, the guilt that was hidden in my eyes.
"As much as I would like to stay an admire you're beautiful face, I have things to attend." With that he vanishes, leaving behind a cold wind and a very disturbed me.
Flash Back
I stood by the same tree I stood by last night and the night before. The moonlight is what draws in the monsters that dare to lay their filthy hands on those who are innocent and filled with life. What else to draw them in than a helpless girl in a blood red coat. I tense as I feel a presence near, but it's only a mere human. I turn and hour eyes met. A young nobleman with hair as bright as a sun flower, eyes as blue as the early morning sky. Once his blue eyes meet my golden ones he instantly saddens.
I quickly disappear into the darkness of the night.
The next night I come back tot eh same old oak tree, yet this time there's a not and a white box with golden print. I pick up the letter hopefully to return it to it's owner.
Dear fair maiden in the red coat,
If you remember, which I doubt, I'm the man who you saw last night. Out of all you're beauty your bright ember lit golden whirl pool eyes are what caught me the most. Such beautiful orbs, yet filled with a deep sadness, regret, and possibly guilt. Tonight if you don't mind come to the Wilmington's residence in the dress I bought you. I'm not completely positive the dress fits, but I do hope. Please, attend the ball.
Love
Alfred Wilmington
Feeling generous I put on the gown he gave me. It fit me perfectly. It's black with golden swirls that would remind one of that of a whirl pool, almost as like he descried my eyes. Once I'm ready I head to the Wilmington mansion where the ball is being held. Once I enter I feel a pair of sky blue eyes watch me with eagerness. My red coat is placed on a coat hanger. Everyone is wearing a mask. Mine is black with golden swirls around the eyes, almost like my dress. I stay near the refreshments, until a man in a white suit walks up to me. I recognize the blue eyes that the mask allows for me to see.
"May I have this dance, milady?" He extends his hand out towards me, I hesitantly take his hand. He leads me off to the middle of the ball room. One hand holds mine, while the other resigns safely above my waist, showing he respects a woman. We dance to the soft, yet emotion filled sound being played by the orchestra.
"I'm glad you could make it..?" He waits to hear my name, right as he's about to speak again I respond. "Acaria," I reply. His eyes light up at the mere sound of my voice. "I should never make a lady introduce herself before a man. Pardon me miss Acaria, I'm Alfred Wilmington." He introduces himself. "What made a man like you invite me to such an event?" I question his intentions. "This may sound like a lie, but I love seeing others happy and joyful. Yet, your golden ember eyes were filled with pain, misery, guilt." I could tell every word that left his lips were genuine.
After we dance I tell him my great tale. Every night after that we would meet at the old oak tree and speak for hours at a time. But one night in particular was different from all the others.
"Acaria, I wish to be like you, a vampire." He requests as he holds my hands tightly in his own. "No, the life of an immortal is long and unforgiving."
"I don't care how unforgiving it is, as long as I'm with you."
"You're life, humanity is beautiful."
"My life lacks beauty without spending eternity with you."
I get my hands free from his grasp. I place one hand on his cheek. "I love humans and despise vampires with all my heart. You're beautiful being human, and I would never want to take that beauty from you." I tell him with a heart filled with endless love. "You would never hate me as a vampire."
"You would be the first good vampire I would have seen in many years." I kiss his forehead before vanishing in thin air.
"Please Acaria! Don't leave me! Life is miserable without you!" He screams and shouts, his voice echos throughout the forest. You would have never felt this type of misery if I hadn't met you.
Thank you Alfred, for making me know happiness, joy, love, and keep my company. You cured my loneliness.
I stand and watch from afar as he cries and begs for me to return to his warm embrace. "Acaria, Zeus requests of you." Hades informs me, but my eyes stay trained on Alfred. "Tell him I'll be there shortly."
"Yes."
Flash Back Ends
A single tear escapes my eye at the memory. No, he didn't become a vampire I know he wouldn't. Maybe there was someone else who loved me, yet never spoke of it? Please, please let it be something like that. The way he spoke of me, it was filled with sour; what if this mystery man finds out that I'm the real Acaria and not a doppelganger. Also, he knew I was here, was he following me this whole time and I never noticed.
The morning comes by, waking Aiden with it. "Morning gorgeous." Luke greets as he walks around the house without a shirt, not caring there's company. "Acaria, I would like to propose a deal with you." Luke starts as he rests his elbows on the kitchen counter. "Get it out." I hiss not feeling quite happy after last nights events. "I'll let you feed off me," he begins.
"But you want..?"
"But I want you to give me the ability to be in the sun." Luke proposes a deal that I really don't mind. He's giving consent.
"There's three things in this world that can grant you that, but you can only have one out of two, since one of them is out the question. First, my blood can give you that but it is not a choice. Second, a daylight jewelry. Third, is daylight water." I Inform him of his choices.
"Daylight water." He chooses without a seconds hesitation, meaning he must know about daylight water. "You pick the hardest one to get, but a deal is a deal." I hold out my hand to him, he takes it finalizing our deal. Aiden looks confused yet fearful for his brother. "Don't worry Aiden, I barely drink blood plus he has accelerated healing." I assure Aiden hopefully calming his nerves.
"So, now will you answer my question about why you need to walk with Luke home fully?" I ask him knowing he will give me his full answer. "Vampires roam around this area at night, so he waits for me so he won't get hurt." Luke answers as he finally puts on a shirt. That makes sense, good thing he told me. I might be able to solve that small little problem. My phone rings, and I answer it without reading the ID.
"Laura."
It's Logan, and he sounds happy..? "What is it?" I ask a little confused by how cheerful his voice sounded. "Ron found another one of those tablets you're obsessed with and it seems we only need one more. But here comes the bad news." Don takes over the phone. Ron is Don's little brother who stayed at the Acaria palace site. "Orion has the last piece you're looking for." Don breaks the news to me.
If my heart was still beating it would have skipped a beat by those words. Orion is from the team that believes that Acaria, me, had a child. This means he won't give up that tablet if we come begging to have it. Orion is a narcissistic bastard, us begging for it would give him the idea that it's important to us, meaning he won't give it to us. "Don't worry about the last piece, I'll handle that part."
I tell them before I hang up. I ball my fists to my side. Those tablets are all I need! Why does Orion have to have it! Logan sends me a picture of the tablet; only making me angrier. There's five stone tablets, each one holds a part of a spell to bring back the dead, and based one what this one looks like Orion has the most important part of the spell.
No, no, no, no! I'm so close! I made a vow and I don't intend on breaking it. I will do what ever it takes to get that tablet.
No matter what.
