Chapter 20

Huling gabi na ng bakasyon nilang magkakaibigan sa Puerto Galera. Abala si Matt sa pag-prepare ng kanilang dinner.

"That smells so good Matt." Ani ni Vanessa. Lumapit ito at binigyan ng halik sa pisngi si Matt.

"Thank you, babe." Sabi ni Matt at pinagpatuloy niya ang pagluluto ng kanyang specialty, which is kare-kare.

Sa kabilang banda naman ay abala sa paglalaro ng Never Have I Ever ang apat. "Okay, okay. Ako naman." Maeve shook her phone and it made a rolling dice noise. Lumabas ang question at binasa niya iyon. "Never have I ever, lied about my feelings to be able to sleep with someone."

"Never." Sagot ni Danielle.

"Uhh, never." Sagot ni Dimitri sabay kamot niya sa batok niya.

Napatingin naman si Danielle sa kanya, her eyes scruntinizing. "What the heck is that suppose to mean?" Danielle asked at napahalukipkip pa ito.

"Nothing. I mean, I did lie maybe once or twice but not to you, okay? They were way before you." Dimitri.

"Still, it's not nice to play with someone's feelings just so you could suffice the need of your dick." Napatingin silang apat kay Vanessa dahil bigla itong nagsalita.

Before they could say anything, tumalikod na ito at lumabas.

"Um, what was that? Is she okay?" Sabi ni Maeve.

Hindi sumagot si Liam at Dimitri. Nagkatinginan sila for a fraction of a second. Dahil alam nilang dalawa na isa iyong patama para kay Liam.

"Damn, I really must have hurt her feelings." Sabi ni Liam sa isip-isip niya.

"Oh-kay. Um, that was beyond awkward. I'm getting hungry, let's go see if Matt is done cooking our dinner. Shall we?" Sabi ni Dimitri at kinuha niya ang kamay ni Danielle para makatayo ito.

Nakaalis na si Danielle at Dimirti pero naka upo pa rin si Maeve at Liam.

"It was you, wasn't it?" She said.

He heaved a sigh and he looked up.

"Yeah." Sabi niya without looking at her.

"I can feel that she's really hurt."

"Maybe I really did hurt her. No, scratch that. I really did hurt her. I was a jackass before I met you. All I wanted to do with women was to have sex and then I'll just dump them if I get bored." He paused and looked at Maeve. "I owe her an apology. What we have is serious. I want to tie the loose ends of my past. And I want to start with Vanessa. I'll start by apologizing to her. Later, after dinner. I'll do it"

Hindi mapigilan ni Maeve na matuwa. He indeed changed. She might not have seen that phase of Liam, and God knows na hindi niya naman gugustuhin yung ganoong side niya. She knows and she feels na sincere talaga si Liam sa kanyang pagbabago. "Yeah. You do that later, pero let's go have dinner muna. I can smell Matt's kare-kare and I'm starving. Let's go." She grabbed his hand and pulled him inside.

Vanessa didn't join her "friends" for dinner. She's inside of her and Matt's room. Nakatanaw siya sa dagat, while the waves hit the shore calmly.

In her right hand, she held something that could destroy her life, Liam's life, and Maeve's life.

She's desperate. She'd do anything just to keep Liam to herself. After this night, she's not sure on what will happen. Pero she's a woman who knows what she want. Kahit na sino tra-traydorin niya. Even Matt...

Matt who's very sweet and gentle to her. Matt who feels genuinely towards her. Matt who's in love with her. She's willing to dump someone who actually cares about her for someone who despises her.

A single drop of tear escaped her eye. She wiped it and she held her chin up. Desidido siya sa gagawin niya.

Narinig niya na bumukas ang pinto. Hindi na niya ito tinignan dahil alam na niya kung sino ito. Hindi nagtagal ay may naramdaman siyang yumakap mula sa likuran niya. "Why didn't you come down for dinner babe?" Ani ni Matt.

"I'm not feeling well babe." Vanessa said.

"Well, we are heading down at the bar. Join us?" Matt said and he caressed her arms.

She felt the chills down her spine. She cares about Matt too, pero mas matimbang si Liam. "I'll just stay here babe. You go enjoy, okay?" She said at hinarap niya ito at hinalikan sa labi.

They kissed passionately. Or at least Matt kissed her passionately. Vanessa was the one to break the kiss. She looked away, she looked into the wide ocean again. "Go babe." She said.

"I'll see you later." Matt said and kissed her shoulders.

Nung narinig niya ang pag-sara ng pinto she got ready for her plan...

"Are you ready?" Maeve asked Liam.

"Honestly, I don't know what I will say to her. Pero, I know that I need to apologize, and I'll start with that." He said.

"We'll be down at the bar. I'll wait for you." Maeve said and kissed him lightly on the lips.

"I'll see you." He said.

He waved at them before heading upstairs. Of course, before proceeding with his plan to apologize to Vanessa, tinanong niya muna kay Matt kung okay lang ba ang intensiyon niya.

Matt was cool with it. They thought that privacy was needed and since maiiiwan si Vanessa and the rest are going out, it was the perfect opportunity to talk to her. Matt told Liam to just head up to their room.

At heto na nga, he is on the way to Matt and Vanessa's room.

He knocked a few times and he heard Vanessa say "wait".

A few moments later she opened the door. She didn't smile or anything.

"Hi." Ani ni Liam.

"Hi." She said too. She motioned for him to come in, and Liam did. "Do you want anything? Scotch? Beer? Water?" She asked.

"You know what? I'll have a beer. It will help me do the talking." Liam said.

"Okay, beer it is. Sit down, make yourself comfortable and I'll go get it." She said.

Liam sat down at the sofa, facing the view of the ocean. The faint light of the moon shines above the ocean.

On the other hand, Vanessa opened a bottle of beer. She took the packet of crushed Rohypnol and mix it in Liam's beer. She sighed, but it's for the best she thought. She took the beer and handed it over to Liam.

"Thanks." He said and took a sip.

"So... to what do I owe this pleasure? Akala ko baa yaw mo akong maka usap or whatnot?" Sabi ni Vanessa.

"Well, Maeve and I were talking. And I know that I've really hurt you. For what I did in the past..." And he went on with the apologizing. Little did he know, that the drug is slowly taking him in.
