Chapter 9

The next morning I woke up a bit more relaxed than I usually do. Erwin did release me earlier than he usually does so I was able to catch up on my sleep. This is probably the first time I've ever woken up before someone banged on my door telling me to report up in a few minutes.

I looked at the time and saw I have about 2 and a half hours left before my shift in the infirmary starts. So I decided to just stay in bed a bit longer before getting up to take a shower.

I still kept thinking about what happened last night. I can still feel Erwin's lips on my forehead like I did that night. His lips were soft and gentle, and I couldn't help but want more of them. Not on my forehead, but maybe somewhere else...somewhere more...lower.

Wait, what am I thinking? I shouldn't even be allowed to think about the Commander like that! He is obviously a few years older than me so of course he'd rather have someone closer to his age. Not only that but he is the Commander, and I am just the nurse. His ranking and my position are too far apart and not only that, but he obviously still sees me as a little sister.

I wondered if I've ever annoyed him back when we were kids, let alone now. I mean breaking curfew just to get a cup of water? Snooping into his things when I was supposed to bring him his breakfast? He could've had me behind bars for all I know, maybe worse, force me to participate in an expedition. 

But if he wanted to then he would've already, so what's holding him back? Could it be that its not in his position to do that? Did he think the paperwork was a more suitable punishment? Or is it the fact that he thinks I would not last as a scout? I don't blame him, if I was a soldier then I probably would've quit after the first night.

I've seen the look on those soldier's faces when they come back to headquarters. Their faces read either DESPAIR, GRIEF, PAIN and DEFEAT while my face just reads EXHAUSTION. If I were to ever go beyond the walls, I think I would fully understand why my parents were against the idea of me joining in the first place.

About 30 minutes had gone by before getting up to go take a shower. After finally getting ready and going down to the Mess Hall to get some breakfast. I suddenly looked out the window and saw Erwin going into a carriage with 2 other soldiers. He did tell me last night that he was going to be out by the time I got to his quarters tonight, but I didn't think he was going to leave this early.

Oh well, I can't sit here long anyways, my shift at the infirmary starts in about 5 minutes so I better finish my breakfast and report up.

Night time fell sooner than usual and I was already released of my duties for the night. I go up to Erwin's quarters to do my usual paperwork but when I was about to approach Erwin's door.

"(Y/N)!!!!"

I nearly fell back when I heard someone shouting my name. I turned around and saw a familiar brunette.

You- "Oh...Section Commander Hanji.."

Hanji- "Soooo, I heard you got promoted to being Erwin's little assistant."

She winked and rubbed her elbow against mine but I moved away slightly in discomfort.

You- "Um...not really promoted, I'm just helping him as a punishment."

Hanji- "Punishment? for what?"

You- "Um..well...I entered his office to bring him breakfast but when he came back-"

Hanji - YEEESSSS?"

She suddenly leaned in to a point that our noses almost touched and I wanted to step back but I was afraid she would have me pinned against the wall.

You- "Well....he caught me reading...Ilse's journal..."

After a few seconds of silence, Hanji's face suddenly lit up, I don't know if she's happy or about to burst. But either way she making me feel all kinds of nervous.

Hanji- "....so.... you ARE curious...."

She spoke in a low voice, but her face looks as if she's holding in her emotions like she's a ticking time bomb.

You- "Well....I just....I wanted to know why Erwin approved your decision on capturing a titan..."

Hanji didn't say anything but took my wrist and took me outside and made our way over to another building. This girl must be in a hurry because she was literally dragging me like a dog excited to go out on a walk. 

You- "Um..Section Commander? Why are we here?"

Hanji- "JUST HURRY!! The sun is gone but there's still time for you to meet them!!"

You- "Wait...who's THEM???"

Once we reached the building, Hanji then took off her jacket and placed it over my head.

You- "Hanji, what are you doing? Now I can't see what's in front of me."

Hanji- "DUUH, I wanted to see your face when you first see them!!"

You- "Why am I getting the feeling that this is going to be something scary?..."

Hanji- "Just trust me dear."

Hanji would lead me to a couple of halls before letting my arm go.

Hanji- "Alright we're here!"

You-" So can I take this off-?"

Hanji- "DON'T TOUCH IT!!!"

You- "OKAY!! geez..."

After I heard something being opened, probably a big gate or some sort, Hanji then took my hand and pulled me forward a bit.

After a couple steps forward I heard some low growls and I instantly froze.

You- "Hanji, I hear some growling and I'll be honest, I'm not comfortable about this..."

Hanji- "Come on, you're going to love this."

You- "I don't know Hanji, you didn't really tell me where we were going in the first place."

The more I stepped forward, the louder the growls and suddenly Hanji let go of my hand and then pulled the coat off my head. 

You- 'OH MY G-...WHAT THE HELL HANJI!!"

I stepped back so quickly that I fell back hard. I was face to face with a 4 and 7 meter titan, they were both nailed onto the floor and had something around their necks. 

Hanji - "(Y/N), I'd like to introduce you to Sawney and Beane."

You- "Why did you put me THAT close to them?!"

Hanji- "(Y/N) is this your first Titan encounter?"

You- "YES!!!"

Hanji- " OH you must be excited!!"

You- "FAR FROM IT HANJI!!!!"

I then got up and dusted myself off before quickly heading towards the gate.

Hanji- "WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!"

You- "Back to Erwin's quarters!"

Hanji- "EEHHH??? But you just got here!!"

You- "I have work to do in there!!"

Hanji- "WAIT!! CAN I AT LEAST GIVE YOU THE KEY TO HIS QUARTERS?!?!"

You- "....uuughhhh!!....fine....just give me a minute."

After a couple of deep breaths, I quickly walked back so Hanji could give me the key and then stormed back to Erwin's quarters before Hanji decided to change her mind and run after me.
