Kaz: Alright, listen closely because I'm only going to type this out once. At exactly nine bells and a quarter chime, Nina and Inej will pass through the west gate completely undetected by the five hundred and six million guards who will all be talking about how the coffee tastes better in the embassy sector while you are climbing through the ventilation ducts. At the exact same time, Wylan will play "Alina Killed a Little Volka" on the flute so loudly and terribly that the guards will be forced to investigate. On the third beet of the fifth measure of the song, the gate will be clear for Inej and Nina to pass through and join the members of the menagerie. Then, Wylan will sprint 80 miles per hour to meet up with Jesper on the other side of the ice moat, who will need another distraction in order to open the south gates so we can make a speedy escape. Here's where the plan gets a little difficult, Jesper will need to use his abnormally long and boneless arms to stretch and wrench open the gate in order to avoid black protocol. If black protocol is initiated, we all end up on a peer. Matthias will use his ice powers that all druskelle are born with to summon a giant bridge for us to cross to the white island. While you each are completing your tasks, keep an eye out for anyone who looks like Bo Yul-Bayor. If you see him wondering around, say hi will you be my friend. If he says yes, take him with you. If he says no, tell him he doesn't have a choice and take him with you anyways. We'll meet up on the white island. No mourners.
Kaz: ?
Kaz: Where did you all go?
Inej: we all got captured while you were typing that out
Kaz: Ketterdammit.
To be continued...
😈
Matthias grabbed her hand with surprising strength. It was wet with his own blood. "No, Nina.""I can fight it a second time. I can heal you then I can fight it."
"It's not worth the risk."
"It's worth every risk," she said. "Matthias-"
"I need you to save the others."
"What others?" she asked desperately.
"The other druskelle. Swear to me you'll at least try to help them, to make them see."
"We'll go together, Matthias. We'll be spies. Genya will tailor us and we'll go to Fjerda together. I'll wear all the ugly knitted vests you want."
"Go home to Ravka, Nina. Be free, as you were meant to be. Be a warrior, as you always have been. Just save some mercy for my people. There has to be a Fjerda worth saving. Promise me.""I promise." The words were more of a sob than a sound.
"I have been made to protect you. Even in death, I will find a way."
He clasped her hand tighter. "Bury me so I can go to Djel. Bury me so I can take root and follow the water north."
"I promise, Matthias. I'll take you home."
"Nina," he said, pressing her hand to his heart. "I am already home."
The light vanished from his eyes. His chest stilled beneath her hands."

I'm sorry if you were having a good day and I just ruined it for you, don't worry because it gets better if you read King of Scars. If you haven't read King of Scars yet, what the Van Heck are you doing with your life? Also, can someone please explain to me where the whole joke about Jesper not having bones came from? Much appreciation for all the votes and nice comments you guys have been leaving, I'm glad I can make people laugh sometimes. It's so crazy that this story is rated #1 in Six of Crows, I'm hoping that it deserves that spot and Wattpad hasn't just lost its mind. Anyway, I'm going to stop talking and start writing so I can give you guys an actually update as soon as possible.
