Today was the day of the first appointment.Tessa and Mariah walked in the doctors office holding hands
"You excited"Tessa whispered to her
"Yes but it won't be real until we hear the heartbeat" she told her as she walked over to the nurses station"Mariah Copeland Porter I have an appointment with Dr Sherman"she told the nurse
The nurse smiled at her "All set someone will come and get you in a couple minutes"she told her
Tessa and Mariah both took a seat.Tessa flipped through a magazine while Mariah played with her fingers which she always did when she was nervous. Tessa noticed and took her hand"It's ok no need to be nervous"she rubbed her thumb across her hand
"What if it was a false positive and I'm not pregnant"she said
"Then what would be the cause for you being sick"she asked
"Lots of reasons I could have the flu or it could just be all in my head"she looked down
"Mariah"she said softly"Get out of your head because baby you are pregnant"she kissed her cheek
Mariah nodded and then lean her head on Tessa's shoulder
A few minutes later the nurse came out to get them and took them into the room. Mariah was sitting on the table while Tessa sat next to her
The doctor walked in and smiled"Good Morning Mariah hello Tessa"she said"So are you ready to see your baby"she told her
Mariah smiled and nodded "Yes"she took Tessa's hand"We both are"
"Well it might be a little early to hear the heartbeat so I don't want you to panic"she reassured her "But we will see something"she said wheeling over the machine"Lay back for me"she told her
Mariah slowly laid back taking a deep breathe still holding Tessa's hand
The doctor grabbed the gel"This is gonna be a little cold"
Mariah flinched a little when she felt it hit her stomach"Sorry"she apologized
The doctor giggled"Its alright"
The doctor was examining Mariah"So it looks like you're nine weeks"she informed her
"Oh wow"Mariah had tears in her eyes smiling at Tessa
"Now I'm going to try the Doppler to see if I can detect the heartbeat.But again don't panic if we can't hear it alright"
The doctor moved the wand over Mariah's stomach for a few seconds.It was slight in the room until they all heard a small thumping sound
Mariah looked over at Tessa"No way"she was crying happy tears still.She was fanning herself"That is the cutest sound I have ever heard"
Tessa also had tears in her,she leaned over ans kissed Mariah's head
"So everything looks great, do you have any questions for me"she asked
"I was wondering if the was anything I could take for the morning sickness"she asked
"I can prescribe something for you if you would like"
"Yes please"she told
"Alright I will call that in and you can set up your next appointment"
"Sounds good thank you"Mariah said
"Yes thank you doctor"Tessa said
The doctor left the room
"That was exciting"Tessa said coming in front of Mariah
"Ya"she said as she looked at the ultrasound picture
