1:45amRichie and Eddie were still calling, not caring about the time. Richie would probably just skip school today anyway, but he did care if Eddie got some sleep, so he hoped his mother would be home soon.
Richie was tired, he had to admit, but he couldn't leave Eddie alone, and awake. Plus, he would rather talk with Eddie than sleep.
Currently, their night time talk consisted of Richie's bad jokes, Eddie telling dumb stories about random memories, Eddie reading a page of a book he was reading, and Richie complaining how they couldn't see each other for a while.
"Wait." Eddie randomly said, stopping his story to listen to his quiet house.
"Eds, is something wrong?" Richie asked, worry running through him.
"I hear something, it's probably my mom, one sec, Rich." Eddie put the phone down and walked away.

1:51amEddie opened his bedroom door, walking down the stairs and looking out the window of the living room, hiding behind a curtain. He saw a car along the street, right in front of the house, but it wasn't his mothers. Eddie's eyes widened and he ran up the stairs.
"Richie!" He whispered.
"Eddie, what's wrong?!" Richie asked.
"There's a car outside but it isn't my moms!"
"Okay, it's fine, Eds. It's probably someone visiting your neighbors."
"Yeah, yeah, totally. Because everyone goes to see their friends at two am!"
"Eddie, calm down. If you're that scared go... hide in your closet or something."
Eddie nodded, "Okay."
He grabbed the phone and his fanny pack off his night stand, and opened his closet, climbing in and closing the doors.
"Richie, i'm scared..."
"It's okay, Eds. Just breathe, in... out..." Eddie did as told his heavy breathing regaining it's normal pace.
"Richie, what if someone comes in and... kills-" Eddie stopped, grabbing his inhaler from his fanny pack and placing it between his lips, pressing down. "K-kills me?"
"Eddie, don't say stuff like that, you'll be fine."
"How do you know? I'm home alone and you aren't here."
Richie sighed. "I know, but it's okay."
Eddie nodded again, thinking about how Richie had done this type of things thousands of times when hiding from his dad in his closet. Eddie knew that even if Richie was seventeen hours away from him, he was still protecting him.
-
Eddie sat in his closet for half an hour, it was now 2:30 am, and then the door opened. This time he knew it was his mom by the heavy sigh that she made when closing the door.
"I gotta go, Rich. My mom's here."
"See, I told you that you'd be fine."
Eddie smiled, "Yeah, yeah. Thanks."
"No problem Eddieo spaghettio."
"Ew." Eddie laughed while cringing.
"K, bye."
"Bye."
"I-... I'll talk with ya tomorrow."
"Yup."
Eddie hung up, opening his closet right when his bedroom door opened.
"Eddie bear?" Sonia asked, turning on the light.
"Mommy..."
"Oh goodness, what are you doing awake at this time and- and in your closet?" She asked, running over and instantly checking her son's temperature.
"Well, I saw someone's car and it scared me..."
"Oh, baby." She sighed, hugging her son close and kiss his forehead. "Get some sleep." She laid him down and turned off his alarm for the morning.
She then walked out, and into her room. Eddie got up and put his phone back, before smiling at the thought of Richie calming him down. He then climbed into bed, not sleeping knowing he didn't have to get up in the morning anyway. Maybe I should tell Richie... or the Losers. He thought, and by that, he meant telling them about his attraction towards Richie. But then he shook it away. I can't, no way. Richie wouldn't be my friend, and the Losers would be weirded out...
But the need to tell his friends was haunting him, and besides, he doesn't really know if he is gay. He's never dated anyone before, so how would he know weather he was even into boys or girls? He just finds Richie very attractive.
