2530 Maple Street, Hawkins, Indiana
Tuesday July 2nd 1990
10:00 pmEddie had been hanging around mostly Jane, he wanted to go to Richie but he knew if he went over to him, he wouldn't be able to leave without feeling nervous about Samantha. So far he hasn't seen her.
"Eddie, this is ridiculous. You've been watching him like a hawk. Why don't you just go over there, he's your boyfriend for crying out loud!"
"I know, but-" Jane stood up, grabbing Eddie's wrist and dragging him over to Richie who was currently playing cup pong with Max.
She pushed him into Richie, who gladly caught him. "Take your boyfriend." She rolled her eyes.
"Jane!" Eddie yelled composing himself as she walked away.
"Hey, babe." Richie said, wrapping and arm around Eddie's shoulders. "Where've ya been all night?" He asked, throwing a ball and missing the cups.
"J-just hanging out with Jane..."
Max cheered, laughing a mocking laugh. "Drink!"
Richie took the cup and began to gulp all the contents of the cup down, tossing it to the side.
"I'll be back." Richie said, messing up Eddie's hair before walking away.
"How's the party, Eddie?" Max asked.
"Crowded."
Max laughed. "Ain't that the truth." She was basically yelling, her being at the other end of the table and the music being so loud. "Do you want to play?"
"I don't drink." Eddie mentioned.
"It's a party, Eddie! Lighten up!"
Eddie laughed. "I don't care if it's a party or not, I'm not drinking till I'm twenty one."
"Party pooper~!" Max laughed. "Beverly made sure to pick you up some Ice Tea, it's in the fridge."
Eddie nodded, knowing she'd at least know not to force a toxic beverage down his throat. He walks over to the fridge, grabbing the bottle and and glass.
"You're looking very cute tonight."
"Go away, Samantha."
Eddie's head instantly snapped over into the direction he heard that in. He saw Richie begin to walk back to Max, and girl, Samantha, trailing along beside him.
Shit, oh no.
Eddie poured his drink, grabbing it and walking over to the table.
"Hey, Eds." Richie perked up, watching Eddie cautiously walk over. He saw Samantha look over at him.
"Hi, are you one of Richie's friends?" She asked, a fake smile on her face.
"I guess." He shrugged. He knew he couldn't say he was his boyfriend, especially in the state of year.
"I'm done for now, Mayfield. Come on spaghetti, let's party." Samantha's face tensed, seeing how he was ignoring her and grabbing Eddie's hand.
"She seems... friendly." Eddie said.
"Ignore her, she's a bitch." Richie laughed. He began to dance to the music.
"I'll be a minute." Eddie said, earning a nod from Richie.
Eddie walked over to Jane and Ben.
"I saw her." Eddie instantly said. "She seemed to hate me!"
"Of course she would, you have Richie's attention." Jane said.
"Who?" Ben asked.
"This girl, Samantha."
"Speaking of her..." Jane mumbled.
Eddie turned around, seeing the girl walking over to the three.
"Shit." Eddie whispered.
"It's fine, don't be scared." Ben soothed.
"Hi, do you mind if I talk with you?" She asked.
Eddie spared a glance at Jane and Ben. "Sure..."
Samantha led the two the basement, that held barely anyone. Eddie noticed how Dustin and Lucas were down there, they watched with keen eyes when seeing Samantha.
"Listen," She began.
"Eddie."
"Eddie, I don't know what you think you're doing. But, Richie is mine, and you seem really really gay. Like a fucking faggot. Richie likes me too, so, maybe you should just keep your filthy hands off him and fucking burn in Hell." She said, anger evident in her voice.
She walked up the stairs, leaving Eddie in our shock.
"Eddie?" Lucas asked.
"Yeah...?"
"Don't listen to her, she knows nothing and-"
"No, it's fine." Eddie walked up the stairs, leaving Lucas and Dustin sympathetic. When Eddie entered the living room, he instantly saw Samantha trying to dance with Richie and him not having it. Eddie knew he should've went over there and said something. He wanted to walk straight over there and kiss Richie right in front of her. But he didn't, instead he began to cry. He walked out the back door, seeing three people out there, no one he knew. He sat on the porch, tears streaming down his face.
His head was repeating the words she was saying, over and over.
Faggot. Burn in Hell.
This night was supposed to be fun, he was going to hang out with Richie and party with all his friends. But now, he feels like he's irritated Jane, he's embarrassed Richie, he had an awkward moment in front of Lucas and Dustin, and he felt that Samantha was right.
Once his crying had ended, he decided to go back in and talk with Richie. He was acting like a baby, Richie was his boyfriend, that girl had no say in what he did with his boyfriend.
Eddie entered the house, looking in the living room, not seeing him. He walked into the kitchen, not seeing him. He checked both the basement and the upstairs. He did however see Samantha, upstairs in Richie's room.
Eddie looked in the front yard, seeing Richie smoking a cigarette. Eddie was a bit confused, not knowing Richie smoked. He walked over to him, taking deep breaths in so he wouldn't break down again.
"Richie?" Eddie asked.
"Hey! Where'd you go?" He asked, smiling at Eddie.
"I went to talk with Jane and Ben for a bit." He said, keeping the part about Samantha out.
"You can't leave me like that again, I missed you." Richie pouted, hugging Eddie.
Eddie spotted Samantha walking out the door, she looked furious at the sight. Eddie decided that he had no need to be scared, so instead, he pulled away, seeing Richie take in a bit of his cigarette. Eddie knew how bad this was going to be.
As soon as the cancer stick left his lips, Eddie connected their lips, smoke being blown into his mouth and onto his face. He could hear Samantha's gasp.
"Eddie!" She yelled. Eddie grabbed Richie's face deepening the kiss, Richie put his cigarette out, grabbing Eddie's hips. Richie knew Samantha was there, so he followed Eddie.
"This is disgusting! Eddie I told you that-"
"Well, I don't think you realize, Samantha, that we're dating." Richie pulled away.
"You're dating? You're dating a boy?!" She yelled. "No! No, I love you!" She yelled. "Be with me, I'm better than him. You're not supposed to date a boy, Richie."
Richie smiled at Samantha, which made her smile. He then grabbed Eddie's face and connected their lips again.
