Lily's P.O.V

I was walking through the hallways of my high school, where my peers were whispering and snickering. I sighed, puttting my head down I walked out to my favorite tree. I opened my lunch bag and there was a note

I hope you have a good day! I love you! Love your, Fiance(:

I smiled at the note, I could not get over how we were going to get married. I was so excited to show my mom the ring and we started talking about ideas right away. I decided I wanted to wait until I was finished high school and then we would get married.

"Hey Lily." I looked up and smiled at John, who sat down next to me and sighed.

"What's wrong John?" I asked concerned. He turned so he was facing me  and took my hands.

"If I tell you this, please do no be upset with me." I gave him a weird look and nodded my head

"Your scaring me, but okay. " I spoke and waited for him to talk.

"Do you know the reason why Landon started working at your farm?" He asked and I thought for a moment, and I actually didn't know.

"No why?" I asked starting to get scared and annoyed that he was beating around the bush.

"I heard in the hallways that he came to your farm because he was on probation. Lily, he was there not becasue your dad hired him, not because Landon wanted a job, it was because he was forced and your dad took him in as a charity case. " I stared at John. How could he say this? I suddenly get angry and defensive.

"Why would you say that? It could just be rumors! " I asked exsasperated, John looked sad

"I am sorry Lily, I just wanted to let you know what was going around school. Go home and ask your dad or Landon." He spoke softly, but he was hidding somehing.

"What else did you hear." I whispered looking a my hands.

"That um he was on probabtion for using drugs, partying, vandilism, and for selling drugs." I was shocked. What, how, when, and why are the questions going through my mind. I picked up my lunch and grabbed my keys. I was going home and I am going to get anwsers.

"Lily wait I am sorry." I touched his arm

"Its not your fault, your just looking out for me. See you tomorrow." I walked to my truck and slammed the door. I laid my head on the steering wheel, how could this be happening. Was everything a lie ? I sped home, but it seemed like it was taking forever to get home. Finally, I was driving up my gravel drive way, where I saw Landon in a wife beater stacking hay, and my father unloading feed, and my mother and grandmother weeding. They all turn at the sound of my truck, Landon's face is filled with worry, but I am so angry, confused, and feeling betrayed to care. I slam the door and left my stuff in the truck. I stand in the middle of my father and Lan.

"What is wrong honey? Is everything alright" My father asks, he was going to touch my shoulder but I flinched away. Never has my father lied to me.

"Is there something you two want to tell me." I ask staring at Landon, but I had to look away quickly before his green eyes sucked me in.

"Tell you what Lil." Landon asked stepping closer to me, but I took a step back. Hurt flashed across his face.

"Like how you ended up here, on my farm." I spoke and my father took a deep breath, while Landon went pale.

"What did you hear." He whispered and hung his head in shame.

"That you were on drugs may still be, a dealer, vandalizing homes, and were arrested. Please tell me it is all just a lie, tell me they are rumors, and that you didn't lie to me. " I pleaded, with tears in my eyes.
