Lily's P.O.V

I stared at the promise ring on my finger and I couldn't help the smile that appears on my face everytime I see it. The next step is marriage.  I smiled at the thought. Marriage. Married to Landon, sounds absolutley delighful. I could not wait for that day to come. Hopefully, it would be soon, but I will wait for as long as Landon needs.  School has been going great, but people have been acting super weird and sketchy. They are whispering about Landon, and nobody will tell me what they are saying about him. Even John was being a little distant and cold. And to make my life even a little more complicated, Landon was in terrible moods lately. He is stressed, worried, and all of the above. Working two jobs has him on edge, I tell him to quite one, but it just ends in an argument. I just hope everything works out in the end. I closed my eyes and put my head down on my open History book, it was okay to take a break.

Landon's P.O.V

(PAST TENSE)

I was currently sitting in Mr. Andersons office, pacing. I was about to ask the most important question. He sat in his chair staring at me. I stopped pacing, stood infront of him, took a deep breath, and asked the question I have been scared to ask.

"I am asking for your permission to ask your daughter for her hand in marriage. " I spoke with confidence, but my voice wavered. I stood with my hands in front of me holding my hat. He stared at me and no words were exchanged.

"You make my daughter happy. You treat her right. You are a Christian. You are a wonderful man. So yes, the answer is yes. You can ask my daughter to marry you. "He answered with a smile, I sighed a sigh of relief and returned the smile.

"Thank you sir. I will take good care of her, for as long as I live. She is my life." I walked over to his desk, extending my hand . He grasped in a firm grip, pulling me closer.

"I know you will son. Now get back to work." He laughed sitting back down. I laughed and put my hat back on.

"Yes sir." I walked out of his office feeling like the luckiest man in the world. Now all that is left is to ask Lily to marry me and how.

PRESENT TENSE

I was currently sitting in the open field, where Lily and I came and where I knew she was the one for me. I held her diamond ring in my fingers examing it, making sure it was perfect. I had the ring. The permission. The last thing I have to do is figure out how to ask and when. I laid down and sighed looking up into the sky and spoke a silent prayer. I put my hat back on, and headed back to the ranch. On the way, the perfect way to ask Lily dawned on me, but I couldn't do it  alone. I smiled and headed towards her house, but I need her family's help. This was going to be tricky to keep it a secret, but this way was going to be perfect.

Lily's P.O.V

I was in the kitchen making everybody lunch meat sandwiches and fresh squeezed lemonade. I was finishing up setting the table, when I heard the screen door slam shut. Making the whole family apear, except for Landon.

"Where is Landon. I haven't seen him all morning?" I asked confused and worried, he would always say good morning and give me a kiss . He would also help me witht he horses. I frowned and looked down at my glass.

"He told me to give this to you." Travis handed over a note with Lily written in cursive on the front. I opened it and it read

Go to where we first met.

I looked up confused, but everyone just smirked. I got up and ran out to the hay bails, where a note was stuck to one of the bails. I ripped it off, and opened it revealing what it said
