Alma
When I wake, I see the sunlight streaming through the blinds on the window to my left. It takes me a moment to realize where I am. I'm still in Medical. Relief washes over me at the realization I'm not back in my unit. I don't want to deal with Chris right now.
"Knock knock!" someone wraps on the door before pulling back the curtain in my room.
"Hey Cindy." Upon seeing Cindy standing at the foot of my bed, I smile.
"How ya feelin'?" she asks.
"I'm better."
"Good. You ready to come back to the unit?"
I nod. I wasn't happy with the idea of going back to the unit but now I see Chris isn't on duty so it's not that big of a deal. I'm glad Cindy is on shift for today. It's a relieving feeling knowing I won't have to deal with Chris today.
"All right, let's get you together and head back." She smiles flopping my freshly laundered clothes onto the foot of my bed.
She busies herself with what looks like Libby's tablet as I slide on my jeans underneath my gown. She turns her back and heads out of the curtain and I take the opportunity of privacy to hurry and get my bra on. I throw my sweater on over it and sit there waiting for her to return.
After a few minutes, she announces her return, "Are you decent?"
"Yep." I hop off the side of the bed and pad over to the curtain.
"Let's get going then." She says as she leads me out into the hallway. We make our way to the main door to our unit. She keys us through, and I follow her to the nurses station.
"Can I go to my room?"
"Sure," She looks up at the clock, "Breakfast will be here shortly." She says as she starts scribbling on the custody paperwork.
I nod and turn towards my room. I need to see Sierra. She was so great to me yesterday, and I just want to grab her up in the biggest hug. I pass Lara in the hall as I make my way to my room. She gives me a small wave. I return it. We don't say anything to one another but the surprised look on her face when she saw me said enough. She looked shock I was back on the unit. Honestly, I'm shocked I'm back here too.
I round the corner to my room and see Sierra's hunched form underneath her covers, still sleeping. I quietly make my way over to my bed and climb onto it. I sit there debating on whether to wake her or not. Breakfast will be here soon, so I decide waking her up will be the best idea.
I climb off my bed and go over to hers. I gently sit down next to her sleeping form and shake her shoulder.
"Sierra... Hey, wake up sleepy head." I half whisper to her. She yawns and stretches. When she looks up at me a smile stretches across her face.
"You're back!" she says as she sits up and hugs me.
"Yep. I just got back to the unit. Breakfast is coming." I say as we let go of each other.
"Oh my goodness, you should have seen the group we had last night." She says as she swings her legs off the side of the bed.
"Oh?"
"Yeah. It was nuts. I thought Stacy was going to kill Chris." She chuckles.
"What happened?" I'm intrigued. I can't imagine Stacy being upset.
"He hijacked her group session and kept picking at Abigail... it was typical Chris behavior."
"Wow."
