Cristiano.
"I am so glad today is indoor training because I don't really fancy running around out there while the sky looks like if the apocalypse is coming." Gareth said while we were loosing out our legs on the treadmill.
"You are just afraid of getting you hair wet, you big drama queen, " Karim retorted while he was doing push ups.
"Well at least I have hair," Gareth replied.
Karim smacked him playfully and the two of them continued to bicker at each other. Coach ever so politely told them to shut up before walking away, shaking his head. The rest of us started to crack up and they still went at it.
"You two fight like an old married couple," I said, turning the speed up on the mill.
"At least they are not like you and Fabio, Cris," Pepe said joining us.
"Okay you need to shut up, we do not, " I replied. He laughed at me and continued running.
"Could some one please turn on the TV or something, people are getting bored over here," Isco shouted as he and Raphael tried to get pass each other in a stimulation. Rapha was getting the upperhand, blocking and intercepting, but I think Isco was starting to irritate him with his quick movements, making him lose focus sometimes.
One of the trainers switched on the T.V and it flickered alive to a channel showing BBC News. I wasn't focusing on it when suddenly Sergio brought it to my attention.
"Cris you should take a look at this," Sergio said with a slight smile on his face. He turned up the T.V and everyone else focused on it too. I listened in because I was focusing more on the hurdles
"Today marked a monumental day in the United Nations Organizations history. It marked the appointment of a new Head of Department and also the passing of a bill that was months in contention." The female reporter said.
"I hope it was the human rights bill," I heard one of the doctors murmur.
"Yesterday in the last convening of the organization's Council for the year, Dr Catalina Hernandez was appointed the Head of The Department for The Control of Viruses, Diseases and Epidemics. After a poll was taken, a unanimous vote was cast in favour of the twenty-eight year old to take up the crucial postion, as of late there have been a number reports that four possible epidemics are waiting to occur, causing widespread concern across the three larger continents, most prominent of these is the deadly outbreak of the Ebola virus on the African mainland. Her appointment comes right on the heels of the retirement of Dr Johnathan Bellamy, who held this position for nearly a decade. Dr Bellamy expressed his approval at her appointment, stating that she was just the "bright, dedicated and focused young mind" needed for the job. Coincedently she became the first woman to be placed incharge of this particular department." The reporter conveyed.
The whole team looked at me as I watched the T.V with a smile on my face.
"Wow," Karim said and Gareth agreed."I can't even kick a ball properly, first woman to be appointed the position. She makes history as much as you do Cris." Everyone nodded but our attention was drawn back to the television.
"And in a double sweep for Dr Hernandez, a bill was passed today by the council to finally make the trafficking in persons illegal in all of its African member states. The countries and the United Nations came to an agreement after 3 years of drafting this part of their constitution, following up on the footsteps of the act that made trafficking illegal in all of its South American member states. Dr Hernandez, along with Human Rights Attorney, Ms Diana Smith and Goodwill Ambassador and Actress Angelina Jolie were the three main advocates for this cause, carrying out numerous campaigns and being apart of the team that evaluated the conditions in these areas. The peak point in their advocacy came last year when Dr Hernandez delivered a speech to the counicil that rocked the international community. Let us recap for those who might have missed it:"
