"joey get up!" my mom shouts from downstairs.
i unwillingly get out of bed and start getting ready for school.
me and my family moved here just two weeks ago and today it's my first day of school.
last week my mom introduced me to my neighbor's son. he's my age and attends my new school. we pretty much hung out everyday since we met and i think i know him enough to call him my friend. he'll help me fit in and today he'll introduce me to his friends.

"yo guys" adam says while we walk up to who i think are his friends.
"guys this is joey" he waves his hand in my direction "joey, these are leo, hunter, zach, brandon and jonah" he points to each one of them.
"oh, you're the new guy huh" jonah asks me
"yeah, i am" i answer and then zach pats my shoulder
"welcome to miami, man" he says and i chuckle
"thanks i guess" i say
"yo listen" adam catches my attention "tonight my girlfriend is throwing a party" he says and all the guys start cheering like they've just seen rihanna naked.
"why so excited?" i ask
"dude, his girlfriend is one of the evans sisters" zach says
"and who are they?" i ask
"oh my- dude have u even informed yourself before coming to school?" brandon asks me
"actually no, i haven't" i say truthfully. i couldn't care less about the school hierarchy or whatever.
"okay so the evans are the most popular girls in the school. they are the complete opposites, but everyone seems to love them both equally anyway." zach says
"nicole, adam's girlfriend is a literal angel. she's really sweet and cares for everybody. she's fun to hang around and she's the kindest person ever" hunter says
"yeah, she changed our little boy into a better human being" zach jokes, patting adam's chest.
"shut up" adam smacks his head.
"and then there's mia" brandon licks his lips "she's not as sociable as nicole, she's not as kind, not as delicate, not as...you know, she's just untouchable" he says
"hey, my girlfriend is untouchable too" adam snaps
"you get what i mean" brandon says
"well i don't so mind to explain" i say
"she's basically a bitch who doesn't give a fuck about anyone that is not her close friend or family, but she's the hottest girl in the school, even hotter than her sister. probably cause of her personality that makes it impossible for everyone to get into her heart" jonah says blankly.

we're currently sitting in the cafeteria and the guys are still arguing about wether that mia girl is a bitch or she just has "a hard character" as adam keeps saying.
idk what kind of bond is there between him and that girl but he seems to care a lot about her.
"dude it's not like that..." adam starts to say but then a girl with light blue eyes and dark brown hair comes up to him, placing a kiss on his lips and shushing him off.
"well hi to you too baby" he says "this is joey, the guy i told you about"
the girl turns to me and i have a better view of her face features. she really looks like an angel, she's the prettiest girl i've seen so far.
"oh hi, nice to meet you" she holds her hand out for me to shake "adam told me a lot of good stuff about you, how was california? i've always dreamt to live there. omg why don't we guys go there on a vacation?" she stops and gasps, turning to me "omg i'm so sorry, maybe you have some bad memories there, that's why you moved here, omg i'm so stupid!" she slaps her forehead
the boys seem completely used to this but i burst out laughing at how surprising and cute that whole thing was...and she seems to relax a little bit.
"california was pretty dope, i think you should go visit it if you haven't already" i tell her and she smiles brightly at me.
"baby i invited joey to the party tonight" adam tells her
"really? i'm glad, you'll definitely get to meet a bunch of people and make new friends" she says and i really start liking this girl, i think she'll become a good friend of mine.
"the party won't start until 9 btw" she says
"wait why that late?" brandon asks her
"cause lakers are playing tonight and you know my sister doesn't want people bothering her while she's watching nba" she says
"wait, your sister watches basketball?" i ask shocked. believe it or not i've never met a girl who's interested in it, all the girls in la were interested in was nails and makeup.
all the guys look at me like i've just burped for 20 minutes straight "are you kidding?" nicole asks me
"dude mia doesn't miss a layup" adam says
"i wanna meet this girl already" i mumble
"yeah...about that" nicole says "i wanna warn you, cause you seem like a great guy. my sister is...difficult." she takes a deep breath "she likes messing around and basically doesn't give a fudge about anyone besides our family and me-" she tries to say something else but she gets cut off by a voice speaking behind me
"wow sis, you're almost 17 and still stuck at the 'fudge' stage"
i hear footsteps and then her figure appears next to me. she's really the complete opposite of nicole. light green eyes, black and long, wavy hair, small but plumped lips and some freckles on her nose and cheeks. now nicole is the second most beautiful girl i've ever seen...mia definitely stole her first place.
she looks at me and, even tho she's probably not taller than 5'4 while i'm a 6'1, i still feel uncomfortable under her gaze.
"you must be the new guy. i'd introduce myself but my sister has already told you how much of a bitch i am so i think that's unnecessary" she says, ending her sentence with a sarcastic cheeky smile, which makes her dimples show up.
i lightly chuckle and she sits next to me. i don't know why everyone's making a big deal out of her personality. she might be a little harsh but she seems funny.
"mia i wasn't-" nicole starts justifying herself but
mia cuts her off with her hand
"yeah yeah, whatever" she says and then quickly glances at me "i'm mia btw, but i think you've figured that out too by now" and with that she moves her attention to her phone.
"i'm joey" i simply say and she mumbles an 'i know' still looking at her phone.
"mia so party at 8 tonight?" jonah asks her
she turns her phone off and looks at him "no, party's at 9 tonight, hasn't nicole told you?" she looks at her sister
"yeah but i was talking about the party me and you are the only ones invited to" he says smirking at her. that's the worst pick up i've ever witnessed
mia doesn't really reply, besides she bursts out laughing and almost chocks on her lunch.
"dude i almost choke" she says still coughing 
at this point everyone at the table has a smile on their faces besides jonah "i wasn't joking" he says
"oh" she stops laughing "so you're really that lame and desperate huh" she says and everyone chuckles
"and you're really that much of a bitch huh" jonah snaps at her and everyone quiets down
"dude that's not cool" i tell him
"why don't you shut your mouth, new child" he says.
i clench my jaw in anger but decide to keep it cool "what's up? your little ego got hurt?" i tease him
"why don't you go and spit in your own face for talking to a girl like that? or maybe do you want me to do it for you?" i say and the guys can't hold their laughs in.
a thing i've figured these past hours i spent with the guys is that they're not all that close. adam and zach are best friends and so are brandon and jonah, but the 4 of them don't really get along. and i think that's because brandon and jonah are dickheads. then hunter goes along with adam and zach but he's brandon's brother, so he's kinda obligated to be on his side regardless.
jonah leaves the table defeated and brandon follows behind him.
i turn my head to look at mia, expecting to find a little sparkle of hurt or offense on her face but i actually find nothing besides a little amused smile.
she doesn't say anything, she just hands me her pack of crisps "want some?"
