Pablo POV.
"Tell me again, you've been to the city before and not been to Lady Liberty?" Pablo again asked Annabeth. She shrugged helplessly.
"I guess I never had the time and when I visited my Aunt Minerva in the town outside the city, I just never visited." Annabeth explained but Pablo shook his head in disbelief. How could she not see Lady Liberty?
"Well your in for a treat." said Pablo grinning widely. Annabeth stared out the window at the zooming city, people walking along the smooth paved roads, kids riding their bicycles, weaving around others, others leaned on grafitti clogged walls smoking hand rolled cigarettes. This was the city life. The constant buzz of people, most friendly, some toxic but friendly.
They rode in silence, the only sound was the music playing, his favorite songs. He loved the beat of music, how it affected you in not one but more ways. Annabeth was listening to, her eyes turning to the radio each time one song ended and another one bled into time.
"Almost there." He said to himself as they pulled into the ferry parking lot. Annabeth day up straight and unclicked her seat belt as Pablo parked the car in the closet spot to the ferry dock.
"Come on." He gestured her to follow to the ticket booth. Annabeth followed him to the ticket booth where he purchased two classic tickets, he could have gotten the luxury tickets but Pablo Jameson couldn't afford it. Percy Jackson could. But not Pablo Jameson.
Annabeth rubbed her hands together. "I'm so exited." Pablo laughed.
As they boarded the ferry he thought he saw someone he knew by television. He shook himself out of his daze and stumbled back to Annabeth who had sat down on a lawn chair.
"We'll be there in half hour or so." Pablo sat next to her. While she stared into the ocean that sparkled under the bright sun he took the opportunity to take in her looks.
As pretty as she was, she wore zero makeup making her look natural, not like all the the models he had met, especially not like Drew Tanaka who was a freakishly horrid model. And of course she was related to Aphrodite, her daughter.
Her hair fell down to her mid waist, it was clean and smelled strongly of lemons, her skin was fresh and scrubbed clean, glistening with the faint glow of shampoo. He tried to avert his gaze but he just couldn't. How had he become her friend. Well...more of aqauntience than friend. They had talked at school before, but he hadn't gotten to know her much.
Finally after what felt like a millennium they reached the dock and got off, walking side by side.
"Whoah." Annabeth said short of words. Her eyes looked up to Lady Liberty, standing in her green glory, holding the torch by her side. Supposedly she was holding the torch and the document in her hand, and chains breaking at her feet meant she was gaining freedom from her captives and starting a new life. Whom she was gaining freedom from Pablo had a faint memory of it but couldn't be sure. He didn't exactly pass history class at Goode.
"Its amazing at first, but once you've seen it more than a gazillion times and hear about it like new songs or stuff, it gets a little old." Pablo shrugged and looked around.
"How could it? The sculpting and the designs is beautiful. No wonder the French made it, they had a wonderful taste of architecture." She marveled. Pablo chuckled.
"You want to be a achritet?" He asked.
"Yeah and you?" She glanced at him and then kept eying the Giant Green Gal.
"Marine life is my specialty. Oceanography. Stuff to do with water." Replying he shoved his hands in his pocket.
"Oooh!" Annabeth pointed to the concession stand passing out free bags of hot buttered popcorn. Both of them took a bag and sat down on a bench that had shade on the warm September day. Leaves fell from trees and kids crunched them underfoot, leaving the leaf crumpled and crumbly. He smiled at the memory of himself doing that, when Gabe wasn't be a world class jerk.
"So...what next?" She asked after she finished the bag of popcorn. Pablo frowned. What should they they do next?
Pablo cleared his throat. "I barley know you. Maybe we should get to know each other?" He said hopefully. Annabeths face brightened.
"Yeah!" She agreed. "So whats your favorite color." She said all seriously. It made him crack up.
"Blue." He said simply. Blue was his name and eating blue cookies was his game.
"Mines sea green." She said. "Like the ocean, the waves crashing against the shore, the sun shining down." She kept going.

For another hour they walked around the island and then headed back a little after lunch.
"Thank you." Annabeth muttered as she leaned against the ferry railing, her blonde hair hanging loosely over the iron rails.
"No problem. But if your going to live in the Big Apple, you have to see Lady Liberty. Thats the law." He laughed. She smiled brightly. He was happy to help her and take her to the island. It made his stomach feel funny, not in a sick not feeling good way. He had never ever felt this feeing before in his life.
He drove her back to the apartment, she was now playing on her phone, the first time he had ever seen her bring it out. The case had a inprinted owl on it, perched on a bookcase.
They got out and headed to their floor, the silence between them as awkward as ever.
"Thank you again." She said and they high fived.
But then she did that he never thought she would do.
She hugged him. She was strong, her arms wrapping around his waist and then quickly dispersing. She was blushing furiously and Pablo was to.
"Thanks." She whispered and opened the door to her apartment and dissapeared into her apartment.
what just happened?????
