Just a small town girl

Mama

"Baby stop worrying everything will be ok" Luke said rubbing my leg.
"I know how stubborn mama can be. She believes strongly in the constitution of Marriage and here is me showing up with someone else's husband" I said looking out the window watching the scenery fly past.
"Stop it right now Lexi." Luke yelled causing me to jump "I'm sorry didn't mean to scare you he said reaching for my hand
"I know your right, it's a generation thing with her, I just hope she don't slam the door in my face when we get there" I smiled
The next few hours we drove alone in silence with only Luke singing away the radio. The music was interrupted by Luke's phone ringing. I saw his lawyers name flash on the display
"Hey Geoff, I'm in the car with Lexi your on speaker phone" she said
"Hi, Hi Lexi. Luke I have just had Caroline's lawyer call me, she said that you threatened to shoot her" he said
When did he see Caroline he never said and shoot her I know she's a bitch but
"I didn't threaten her Geoff, she was at the house yesterday when I went home which is against the restraining order, she was trying to get me back, which I told her not a chance in hell, then she wanted the boys and I said they where in Florida with Mama, and I said don't bother going down or she will shoot your ass" he said
I heard his lawyer sigh
"Luke you can't say that, your lucky it's her word against yours, the next time she shows up unannounced just call the cops ok. And don't worry about the boys she can't just take them you are sole guardian."
"Ok. I'm back in Nashville next week can you contact her and say I want a meeting we have things to sort out and I don't want this divorce dragging along" he said smiling at me. I gave him a half smile which he picked up on.
"No problem. Text me the dates your available."
"Thanks Geoff, See ya" he said hanging up
He looked over at me and said
"What's wrong"
"When was you going to tell me you saw Caroline" I snapped
"I didn't want to upset you I knew you where worried about today" he said
"You still could have told me Luke I ant made of glass "
"I'm sorry. Do you want to stop for something to eat I could do with stretching  my legs" he said
"Fine."
He sighed and took the next exit towards a highway stop.
We went inside and it was like a truck stop. I was actually pretty hungry. We took a seat and the waitress came over
"I'm Mary and I'll be your server, can I get y'all something to drink."
"Yeah two sweet teas" he said
"And are you ready to order"
"Give is a few minutes" I said a little curt
"Yes ma'am" she said scoffing off
"That was rude" Luke said
"So was meeting your wife and not telling me. I'm going to the bathroom. When she comes back order me a burger and garlic fries" I said standing up
"Grow up Lexi" he snapped
I stomped off to the bathroom, I knew I was being childish but I was stressed out with the pending visit.
Upon returning to the table I saw Luke on his phone.
"I'm sorry" I said giving him a hug
"It's ok I should have told you. Your food will be here soon" he smiled
The food came and I ate everything, I was hungrier than I thought.
"We better get going baby before if gets any later" he said
"Ok I will get the bill" I told him
"Already paid sweetheart" he said taking me hand
As we where walking out a group of girls stopped. Recognising Luke the ran over
"Oh my god Luke can we have a selfie, well that's if your girlfriend don't mind" they smiled
"Go ahead girls" I smiled
"Thank you so much, oh and your so much prettier than Caroline" they smiled.
This made me smile and least some of his fans like me. Luke signed some merch and took pics and we where on our way
"They where right you know"
"About what"
"You are prettier" he smiled
Two hours later we pulled up outside Mamas. I hadn't been here since I left for Nashville
"Baby you go on ahead and I will wait here" he said
"Ok. Wish me luck"
I walked up to the door and knocked. I didn't want to just walk in not with the way it ended. I saw her come to the door and open it
