Tea Leaves (Levi x reader)

Prologue

It was early morning in Shiganshina and Y/N was at the market, buying food for their family. Children raced around the streets as the teen purchased the last bits and pieces before returning home to help their mother cook. As they returned to the house, they noticed Eren and Mikasa we getting ready to collect the firewood, a chore Y/N knew he hated. The two friends left the house after saying goodbye to their family sitting in the kitchen.

Y/N decided to walk around the town and see if they could find any good tea shops that they haven't seen before. Tea was their passion, they wanted to open up a tea store in the inner part of Wall Maria, but they knew it would be too expensive. Y/N didn't realise it was early afternoon until they heard the town's bell ring, signalling that the Scouts were back from their expedition. They knew that Eren and Mikasa were back as he would not want to miss watching the Scouts return. Like Y/N, Eren had an interest in something that was seen as unachievable to their family. He wanted to join the survey corps. The only people he trusted to keep his secret were his sibling and his two best (And only) friends.

Y/N made their way back to the house to help their mother prepare lunch. After about half an hour, Eren and Mikasa walked in carrying the firewood they collected. Y/N wasn't listening to the conversation their brother and mother were having; instead, they focused on brewing the tea that would go with their lunch.

Eren, Mikasa and Grisha sat at the table talking about their day while Y/N and Carla cleaned around the kitchen. Grisha was explaining that he needed to go into the interior for a checkup when Mikasa spoke up.

"So, um...Eren was thinking about joining the Scouts," she said quietly, looking down at her food. The kitchen froze as Eren yelled at Mikasa for telling his parents."Get that ridiculous thought out of your head young man!" Carla yelled as she ran over to Eren, "no son of mine is going to be fodder, do I make myself clear?"

Y/N realised that this would become ugly and excused themself from the house, walking to the tree on a hill that they would go and draw under. It gave them a beautiful view of Shiganshina, and they had drawn the town many times. Y/N grabbed the notebook and art supplies they had kept in a hollowed-out part of the tree and began to sketch out the sky.

After half an hour they decided to walk back home and show their mother the design they had drawn for her, as they felt it would be a nice thing to do after walking out on the fight. As they started to walk to their street, Y/N heard a loud bang coming from near the gate. They decided to see what caused the commotion, and as they turned the corner, Y/N saw something they had never expected to see.
A titan taller than 50 metres was peering over the wall, Y/N knew this wasn't going to be good, so they started to run off, in search of their family. They didn't get far when Y/N heard another loud bang, dust enveloped them, and they knew exactly what happened, the titans broke through the wall.

Y/N ran as fast as they could in search of their brother, whom they knew left the house after the fight he had with their mother, Y/N noticed Eren running in the direction of their home and decided to follow him, catching up with Eren. As the siblings turned the corner, they were met with another horrible sight, their mother trapped in the rubble of their house. Y/N immediately ran to go and get help which they regretted when they saw Mikasa and Eren struggling to get their mother out, but it was too late to turn back and help.

On their way to find someone to help, Y/N ran into a soldier they knew well. Hannes was running towards their house, they knew that Armin was the one who probably alerted him of Eren and Mikasa running off. Y/N nearly cried when he asked them what was going on.

"The house was hit with a large rock and mum is trapped under the foundations," Y/N managed to say while tears streamed down their face, "Mikasa and Eren are trying to get her out, but they really need help... please help."

"It's okay Y/N," Hannes said calmly, "you just board the boats and I'll be there with your family in no time. Have faith in me." And with that, he was running towards the house. Y/N decided to take his advice and run toward the boats, which they boarded and waited for him to arrive with everyone.

Ten minutes had passed, and Hannes hadn't arrived, Y/N was starting to worry, the boats were going to leave soon, and people were starting to get rowdy. Y/N finally noticed Hannes running over with Eren and Mikasa but no Carla, meaning something happened to her. Y/N decided not to say anything and waited for the boat to move.

When the boat departed, Y/N heard loud footsteps coming from inside Shiganshina. Still, they sounded too heavy to be a regular titan. The stepping became louder and faster before something slammed through the inner gates leading into wall Maria. A titan covered in armour like skin burst through the inner gates opening up wall Maria for all the titans to explore. Y/N blocked out the carnage that happened and looked down at the floor of the boat, refusing to look back up.

The boats stopped in Trost District, and everyone was ordered off. Y/N immediately ran over to Eren and hugged him, allowing him to cry on their shoulder. As the older sibling, Y/N needed to be strong for both of them. Without their parents to help, Y/N was scared of messing up but decided to take the burden of looking after Eren, Armin and Mikasa.

After six months of chaos in Trost due to overpopulation and food shortages, things started to settle down. Y/N found an empty venue to set up their dream tea shop in Trost. Their brother and his friends up and left one day and didn't come back, meaning they most likely went to join the military. Y/N started to feel less burdened by the recent events but still worried about their brother and his friends.

The shop was open for business, and Y/N was busy brewing tea and welcoming customers, completely blocking out all negative thoughts that came to mind. A bell above the door signalled another customer had arrived. As Y/N looked over the counter to take the customers order, they were met with beautiful dark eyes that they instantly fell in love with. "Hello, my name is Y/N. How can I help you today?"

Hey ya'll. I've rewritten the chapter! I noticed so many errors and ugh, I can't believe I wrote like that. I've  also changed the pronouns to they/them for Y/N so that others can enjoy the story!

Please let me know if you see any errors or wrong pronouns so I can change them as soon as possible, however I'm not on Wattpad very often anymore so it may take a little bit to update.
