Chapter 13- Time with Hanji

I know that this story isn't really about Armin but can I just say that he is a precious smol bean and I will die to see him happy. Anyways, on with the story.

"Shit,"

Y/N was currently stood in the titan research area, looking at the evaporating titan corpses while ignoring Hanji's cries. The entirety of the survey corps was stood in the small area, gossiping about the scene unfolding in front of them. Some soldiers were talking about how the culprit managed to execute their plan and how they were able to escape the scene. Y/N decided to walk over to the distraught section commander and offer some emotional support.

Y/N was able to calm Hanji down a bit before she decided to walk off to a quiet corner of the research area, only to be stopped by Erwin.

"Cadet Y/N can I talk to you for a moment?" He asked calmly as Y/N nodded. "Can I ask your thoughts of the situation? What do you think is going on?"

Y/N pondered on the question for a second before replying, "I believe that it had to have been a one man job. There's only one set of holes in the building and it would be too hard to to line up a second person's hook with the original holes created, but then again, thats just a theory." Y/N turned to look back at Hanji, who was in tears again.

"I like your thoughts Y/N, come meet me in my office after the cadet corps proper graduation, I want to talk to you in a more secluded place. In the meantime, I believe Hanji wanted to discuss something with you; I would be careful if I were you, Hanji may mean well but she sometimes goes a bit overbaord. Anyway, enough of me talking, you are now dismissed." Erwin walked off into the crowd, leaving Y/N standing there.

'I better go and get ready for whatever Hanji has in store for me,' Y/N thought as she walked back to the stables to get her horse and return to the old castle.

"Y/N! You made it!" Hanji yelled as the H/C haired female walked into the main scouts barracks, "are you excited for the experiment?" Hanji questioned as if she had forgotten about the earlier events.

"Wait, what experiment?" Y/N asked.

"Oh, did Erwin not tell you what I was planning for today?"

"No and I'm honestly kind of scared," Y/N answered as Hanji laughed.

"Come on Y/N, it's more training things like seeing if you can attack a titan using our titan dummies, hand to hand combat and seeing if you can become a titan like your brother!" Hanji started getting excited as she dragged Y/N by the wrist to the small forest set up for said activities, forbidding the H/C haired female from talking.

Y/N smiled as she soared through the air with her ODM gear, the wind pushing her hair back gave her the ultimate feeling of freedom. Hanji had given her half an hour to get really comfortable with her gear before they started the training. Y/N decided that she had enough of doing nothing and landed back on the ground to tell Hanji they could start training earlier.

"Are you sure Y/N?" Hanji asked, "it could be dangerous if you aren't completely comfortable with your gear."

"I'll be fine Hanji, I nearly beat corporal shorty on my first try," Y/N reassured the section commander as they set up for the training.

"Wow Y/N, that was impressive. You managed to take down most of the titan dummies in the time given and you were able to flip some of our most muscular soldiers over. I wonder if your skills are some sort of perk that comes with titan shifting abilities," Hanji explained excitedly.

"Hanji, We don't even know if I have that power, it could just be something I've learnt from being around Captain Levi for so long," Y/N said, "besides, from what I've heard and seen in reports, my brother doesn't show even a glimmer of hope when it comes to fighting titans without his ability."

"Well it could differ from shifter to shifter," Hanji hypothesized, waiting for Y/N to agree with her.

"Let's just get on with it then, Y/N suddenly chirped, "It will be easier to prove you wrong by actually showing you that I can't transform."

"Yay! Let's do it then!" Hanji exclaimed excitedly before bringing Y/N to an opening, the familiar well coming into view. "I'll have you try and transform in this well just like with Eren and then if it doesn't work we will have you sleep out here tonight, just in case."

"But wait, I have a meeting with Commander Erwin later," Y/N explained, hoping to get Hanji to stop the so called experiment.

"I've told him that if you don't come back tonight he should come here," Hanji simply answered beofre throwing a rope ladder down the side of the well, "now go on Y/N, and remember you have to have a clear goal in mind!"

Y/N sighed and started to climb down the ladder, meeting the bottom of the well. She looked up to the sky to see the flare that signalled the start of the experiment. When a line of green smoke sailed across the sky, Y/N bit into her hand, the metallic taste of blood filled her mouth as it ran down her face. She instantly unclenched her jaw and started to nurse her hand.

"Son of a bitch that hurt," Y/N exclaimed, "I can't believe that Eren was able to do this without tearing up."

Y/N looked back up at the entrance of the well, Hanji was looking over the foundation to see if the eldest Jaeger was okay.

"Hanji! I can't transform!"

"Are you sure you didn't have a clear goal in mind?" Hanji asked for the seventh time that evening, waiting for Y/N to answer.

"Like I said before Hanji, I did have a clear goal in mind but after I bit into my hand, it didn't even start to steam," Y/N stated boldly, hoping the section commander would stop asking her questions. Luckily, the H/C haired female was saved by the arrival of Commander Erwin.

Y/N rose from the table and saluted the commander as he dismounted his horse.

"Good evening Y/N and Hanji," he said as he looked at the two. "Y/N, if you could follow me that would be great."

Erwin and Y/N walked to a small tent where they started the meeting.

"So Y/N. I know that you have been keen on joining us on our upcoming expedition, Levi has been trying to convince me not to let you join but your analysis skills and training results are just to good to be wasted," Erwin explained as Y/N's eyes lit up.

"Does this mean you are letting me join you on the expedition?" Y/N asked.

"It does, you will be stationed with Levi's squad in the safest part of the formation. It might sound like I'm placing you there because I don't trust you to come back alive on your own, it's because we need to bring back some good results so you and Eren don't and up in the hands of the Military Police afterwards." Erwin dismissed Y/N so she could go get some rest.

Y/N lay down on top of the sleeping bag set up in a tent. It was a warm night so she didn't see any point in using it.

"I guess everyone in Levi's squad all share something in common now," Y/N said as she looked at her bandaged hand before falling asleep.

So something happened and this said that it was still a draft. I have no idea if I actually published this chapter or if my Wattpad just messed up.
