The next morning, I walk into school chatting with Gabby, Gemma and Anne, when I spot Kate. I look over at Gabby and she shakes her head. But I still say, "Guys, I'll catch up with ye in a minute. Gotta talk to Kate Winslet over there."

They all nod their heads.

I pull my bag further up on my shoulder and walk towards her.

"Yo, Daniel!", I call. She looks at me. "We need to talk!"

Kate puts away her phone and walks over to me.

"Wassa story, Tash." I roll my eyes.

"I want to know why you told my girlfriend to kill herself." I stand closer to her.

"What? No I didn-"

"Don't fuck with me, I saw the texts. I have them screenshotted as well. And when the Gaurds see them, your hetero little ass will be arrested."

She looks at me in the eyes. She grabs my hand. "I'll tell you somewhere else."

Then she's pulling me behind the school.

"Ok, wanna know why I hate Gabrielle so much?"

"Uh, duh, I would like to know."

She looks down and sighs. Then she looks up at me. She puts her hands on my shoulders.

And then she kisses me.

I immediately push her off and wipe my mouth.

"What the fuck?!" I almost scream it. I'm horrified.

"I love you!" There's tears in her eyes. "I have since I was 6 years old. I hate Gabrielle cause a girl like her doesn't deserve a girl like you. She's weird. Her brothers weird. Her dad's a psycho-"

"So your family's perfect then?!" I shout it. "Her family doesn't define her. Her beautiful personality defines her. She's the perfect girl for me."

"But I've loved you longer!"

"But I don't love you! I hate you! If you really loved me, you'd be supportive of my relationship and happy for me. I've forced myself to be happy for you and Simon Lynch. I shouldn't have to be the good friend. But guess what. I won't have to be anymore. Because we're done."

She gasps and tears roll down her cheeks. But I don't care. I'm so angry. I continue.

"Don't call me. Don't text me. Don't talk with us at the table. Don't go near my girlfriend again. Leave me the fuck alone. Fall out of love with me, because we're never gonna happen."

She's bawling now. But do I care? Nope.

"Goodbye, Daniel. It's the end of a painful era."

I walk away from her, and I find the girls in the middle of the yard. Gabrielle comes up to me and intertwine our fingers.

"What did she sa-"

I kiss her fiercely. I don't care all my friends are there. I don't care that Kate is probably breaking down at the sight of us. I just need to get rid of the anger in me with love.

When we separated, Amelia starts to slow clap. I roll my eyes.

"What was that for?", Gabrielle says through a huge smile.

"Just because I love you." I smile at her.

"Awww!!"

"Shut it, Hayley."

We all laugh, however. Gemma throws an arm around Anne and kisses her on the cheek, making us all cheer.

Then the bell rings. Everything's going to be ok now that I'm with my girls. Even though we don't have Kate anymore, the group feels more complete than ever.
